The organic chemistry that goes into understanding these reactions, and pharmacy in general, is a particular passion of mine; this had led to an ardent fascination with the field.
This need for order stems from a desire to understand not just chemical reactions, but sociological ...

Like many Americans, 9/11 was a profoundly affecting moment in my life – it was a stark reminder of our mortality, the world culture we live in, and the existence of those who seek nothing more than to kill in the name of their beliefs. When thinking of university education it is common to think of vertical learning; from the professor and the assistants to the student. However, another important aspect of the university experience is horizontal learning whereby we learn from our peers and colleagues. Horizontal learning is particularly important in the context of graduate education as many students bring diverse experiences with them to the classroom. The different backgrounds that are brought into the university enrich the learning environment by providing context and differing viewpoints regarding the material that is taught. Student experiences have the potential to inform both the professor and ...

"We shape our dwellings, and afterwards, our dwellings shape us", so says Winston Churchill (Drmardy.com) in the House of Commons in 1944. Although he said this in various different ways, sometimes referring to "dwellings" as "buildings", this statement has made a profound impact on how much I wanted to be an archaeologist. I share Churchill's view that buildings, or any forms of art or architecture, initially assume the characteristics of the maker. Soon enough, when complete, the makers adopt the meanings the creation depicts. This is exactly what happened to me with the appreciation I have for the Arts. Thus, ...
