Background
According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (2019) in 2018, the total number of offenses committed by young offenders was 728, 280. The major crimes committed by young offenders include simple assault (125,030), drug abuse violations (90,670), and disorderly conduct (57, 760). The most significant crime committed by young offenders was violent crimes (46,140).
