Human beings all belong to the species Homo sapiens. However, both Neanderthals and modern humans are most likely the homo heidelbergensis descendants. Homo sapiens are believed to have evolved in Africa nearly 200,000 years ago and gradually migrated north, through the Middle East, to Europe and Asia. A skull 160,000 years old was discovered at the Herto site area of Ethiopia (Anthro.palomar.edu, 2010). Other more advanced transitional forms have been discovered at Laetoli in Tanzania and are 120,000 years old. About 115,000 years ago, some early modern humans (Homo sapiens) ago widened their range to ...

However, others believe that cats were domesticated just to be pets, to keep human company. This research will not major in the reason as to why cat was domesticated, but rather will focus on the origin of the domesticated ...

Observer: Christiaan Huygens
Exposure time: Observations were taken over a number of weeks.

There is a major difference between the modern workplace and workplaces of 50 years ago.
Therefore, employers face a great level of challenges to motivate their employees in today’s work climate. Some of the challenges of motivating employees in the present work environment include managing diversity, needs for fast growth, and increasing mobility.
Challenges
Firstly, modern employees not only expect the best compensation, they also want the organization to provide them with training and development opportunities frequently. When employees are not given adequate learning opportunities, they are expected to feel disappointed and employers find it tough to motivate them ...
Encounter with another culture
Two years ago I traveled to Germany. As I live in Great Britain I expected to see a fully another country because it takes much time to reach Germany. I was eager to visit my aunt who left there 20 years ago and now she has her own family in Germany. By the way, her husband is German and has another mentality. It was also exciting for me to find out about their compatibility and their difficulties or lightnesses in their family which were caused by fusion of two different cultures.
When I met them at first, I was ...

Using Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Creation of Naturing Life
Nature life is a beauty perfect in the eyes of people. In fact, Coco Chanel quoted the words, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous” (Armour 1). The pursuit of beauty is a topic always applicable to life among women, even to those who lived thousands of years ago. Thus, there is always the question on how women of long ago maintain their beautiful appearance, as reflected in the Chinese customs, which is apparently very different from the ways of the modern times that uses science and technology. Women of the olden times did not have access ...
The species Paranthropus boisei was estimated to have existed 1.1 million years ago and is believed to belong to a certain era of the human evolution that spanned several years ago, but scientists were keen to point out that they did not eventually lead to human evolution, or rather to the evolution of Homo Sapiens, but they share a huge genetic relationship with the Homo sapiens (Marsh 18).
There are numerous characteristics of Paranthropus boisei that would be synonymous to that of the Homo sapiens that would lead one to believe that the genetic characteristics that depict similarities would ...
Introduction
The very title of this article may seem to some readers fantastic. Is there any evidence that alien beings exist? Can we prove that there is no clear scientific argument in favor of their life and activity? Such questions immediately arise among readers, of course, they are quite natural. And yet, I will try to show that the statement of the problem in our time of exclusively rapid scientific and technical progress is quite logic. Moreover, most recently the first steps towards the solution of this great problem facing mankind were taken. Basically, from the scientific point of view ...
Irrelevance of Marriage: Debunking Patriarchal Values in “Pride and Prejudice”
Introduction
Marriage is irrelevant in the modern society. It has become an atavism of the patriarchal concept that is no longer important today. Marriage is the remnant of the past, which a lot of people confuse with one of the standards characterizing good life. Moreover, while a lot of males pretend they are scared, confused, and resistant to tie the knot, marriage was constructed only for the sake of men. In the past and today marriage is still presented as the main goal and dream for women, implemented in numerous vague sitcoms, romantic movies, and symbolism of the pop ...

Dr. King is best known for his belief in non violence and civil disobedience in keeping with Christian beliefs. My inspiriting thoughts
Each event that happens in a person’s life leaves some significant impact that helps him or her in future when subjected to a similar situation. However minor a situation might seem to be, there is always a consequence, whether positive or negative, in the lives of the people who experience it or are otherwise affected by the occasion. This, I have to admit from the outset otherwise my narration of a significant occasion in my life will not make an impact. I could argue that the situation I found myself in at this particular time was quite embarrassing but I later realized that ...
Differences in competencies between nurses prepared at the ADN versus the BSN
The nursing curriculum has been evolving over time to meet the needs and demands of the population which have been changing over time. In a bid to ensure that care delivery meets the optimal goals of recovery, restoration and sustaining a high quality of life, the basic foundation for the nursing profession has been on ensuring that the curriculum adequately prepares the nurses for the tasks ahead (Auerbach, Buerhaus, & Staiger, 2015). A particular response that the profession can refer is the Future of Nursing Report by the Institute of Medicine which required that nurses be allowed to the highest ...
Today, they were burning books. These were the last books on Earth, found in the house on the outskirts of the city.
They were creating and, at the same time, listening to the Symphony of Fire, in which every note was a burned paper with empty words, written once by someone.
Does it really matter?
Does it really matter what was inside these books when outside, there is so much fun glancing at dancing flames destroying a relic of the past?
For them, it was more important to find every hidden book, throw down imaginary idols from their pedestals, tear apart books with ...
Today not only in the United States but also across the world more children than was the case fifty years ago are becoming obese. These children are increasingly being placed at risk of contracting diabetes and other lifestyle diseases in their later life. Through scientific studies, researchers have established some of the reasons why more children are today being diagnosed with childhood obesity than before (Schmiege, Gance-Cleveland, Gilbert, & Aldrich, 2016). Their arguments revolve around the change of lifestyle being experienced today.
On average, almost a third of the children in America are suffering from childhood and the numbers are ...

Human Resource Management (HRM) today plays the significantly more strategic role than several decades ago. Globalization, international supply chain and increased diversity among workforce and customers demand companies become more focused on building competitive advantage through human capital. One of the critical elements of the contemporary HRM strategy is a creation of unique corporate culture, which according to many academic and business professionals can enable strong bond between employees and organization and ensure high performance, motivation, and retention among staff (Sadler, 2003). With that in mind, this topic received the significant amount of attention in media and academic research, ...
This essay is an analysis to Richard Ford’s “Under the Radar”. Ford’s story, despite short, conveys a deep and textured plot and along with perplexing characters. The story revolves around the theme of early marriage, infidelity among professionals and the consequences in the revelation of these actions. There is not a hint of happiness or closure at the end and it leaves the reader free to think up of the ending on their own, with the lingering opinions on mistrust and deception.
“Under the Radar” starts off with a young couple, Marjorie Reeves and her husband, Steven ...

More than 20 years ago, adult murderers were getting arrested for manslaughter which was common back in those days and people did not expect any concept of juvenile murderers of being created. Incidentally, America was not prepared to send a child to jail for murderous crimes and it can hardly be argued that it was thought inhumane. However, with more juvenile murderers on the rise, more and more people such as families of those murdered have begun to agree that juvenile murderers should be locked up.
Cruel and unusual punishment has been mentioned in cases such as these ...
Philosophy
Introduction
One of the most important reasons behind study of literature or the literary works of authors is that they contain a philosophical or hypothetical perspective on different matters, which are yet again brought to the forefront of analysis through comparison with those of other authors. What makes study of these perspectives all the more interesting is that one cannot simply declare one to be the most acceptable and the other invalid. It is because that in literature, there is no right or wrong – instead, there is only greater agreement to the perspectives of one that the other .One ...
Introduction - what is a subculture?
One particular term which is quite commonly used these days is ‘sub-culture’. One need to understand what is exactly meant by a subculture and how does the same have an impact on the socio-cultural frameworks in today’s world. A subculture is defined to be a specific group of people with specific behavioral traits who exist within a larger and more common culture . The subculture can be identified on the basis of ethnic, economic, social or regional characteristics and it needs to be highlighted that it is not always necessary that it will be formally enlisted or categorized by ...

Portion Distortion Quiz Analysis
When we think of portion in general we think of the amount of something. Such as the amount of food we eat or a fraction of that. Americans face a challenge considering we over eat and take in more than we usually should. Not because we want to but because we can and there is nothing and no one to stop us. Portions deals with a smaller fraction of what we usually eat, meaning eat less or eat smaller sizes of the same foods. That way we have control over the foods and substances we intake instead of the ...

I have really started to pray only when I was a senior. I do not actually recall what gave me an impulse to do so, probably some personal problems or illness. My prayers remained irregular until a year ago or so. I would usually pray before I fall asleep. Obviously, I used to pray for a lot of things, material and emotional bound, for silly stuff and very serious things. But what I have learned from somewhere years ago is that God does not want us to pray much. He wants us to be sincere in our prayers, to ...
The Sphinx of Egypt, the Sistine Chapel and the life-size sculpted representations of David or the Ancient Grecian Gods are all examples of great artistic achievements that have withstood the test of time. When the average person thinks of the arts, be it paintings, architecture or sculpture they are more interested in the object or work created than what it is made from. People see the Mona Lisa, not necessarily the paints used, the canvas it is painted upon or the nature of the brush strokes. When the average spectator sees the Notredame Cathedral in France, people are awed ...
The World Art history knows a number of masterpieces that are significant for some particular period of art. This can be a “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo Da Vinci and even the cave art by the first people. All of them are carrying their own significance in this world and the history of the whole humanity in general. Taking to the consideration the fact that the originals of the art should be lead since the dawn of times, the art of the first people, who lived hundreds of centuries ago, is the fundament and the basis for all the following ...

The associated issues of copyright protection and digital rights management are pressing ones these days. Particularly for the music industry, there is a growing trend among consumers to download music illegally via torrents without giving a second thought to the ethics or legally of their actions. On the other hand, many have suggested that unreasonable laws and the length of time that copyrights last explain the many copyright violations we see today. This essay will examine the nature of copyright law and its original intended purpose in English common law, as well as how the founding fathers of the ...
I am an individual with varied interests. However, I have always remained fascinated by the science of the DNA Double Helix. My fascination in DNA Double Helix and its functionality goes back to the 6th grade when I stumbled over my cousin’s biology assignments on the structure and functionality of the DNA Double Helix. I remember asking him to explain it to me. He said a lot of staff I could not understand then, but the only thing that caught my attention is conservative nature of DNA Double Helix. My focus on the DNA Double Helix grew fonder ...

Comparative Racism Between the United States, Cuba and Brazil
Racism in the Americas is the societal result of colonization that took place from the end of the fifteenth century to the neo-colonialism of the last century. Then, as these eras ended, different countries adapted to the plurality of races that now existed in their own ways, some better than others. In most cases, but not all, there was European-American sentiment of superiority over other races that they now lived with. They now had freed slaves that they mistreated and subverted for hundreds of years, as ...

Joseph Nye’s book titled what matters is compelling in that it strives to predict the future of the US government foreign policy. But Yogi Berra, the great shrewd of baseball, was heard saying, “Never make predictions—principally about the future.” He apparently had a point but if we go back three decades, to the late 1970s, the Cold War was in earnest, and conservative wisdom held that American power was in the decline. But of course no one saw the Internet coming. Why must we think we can do any better by looking forward 30-plus years?

It also examines the different kinds of changes that human culture has undergone over time, and tries to seek an explanation for the changes. In December 2016, the US Secretary of State stated that, Israel would either have to be a Jewish State that does not intrude into Palestinian “land” or it should be democratic whereby Palestinians would be given equal rights as dignified citizens of one-state of Israel. This was something many Republicans and Conservatives found to be negative and Anti-American. The purpose of this paper is to argue that the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians cannot be solved. This paper will use elements of persuasion to establish a case to prove that America must stay away from imposing its will on ...
According to Andersen and Taylor (2008), "through gender socialization, men and women learn the expectations associated with their sex" (305). Speaking from the perspective of my own upbringing, I consider play, clothes, fairy tales, schooling and mass media to be the major socializing agents in my childhood. Obviously, the fundamental source of this process are parents, who encourage children to play with particular toys, choose clothes that they consider to be appropriate for their children, and educate children by means of fairy tales.
Speaking within the context of toys, as on the fundamental socializing agents, the first thing that ...

There are so many airports globally, that handle a large number of people than any mode of transport. Air transport has enabled the economic growth to most of these countries. They also operate at all times of the day yearly. There are several security measures in airports which have been there since long time ago. With the current revolution in technology all over the world, I personally agree that airport security should be increased. Comparing the rate of people traveling nowadays and a long time ago, the number has greatly increased as well as the number of airlines ("Global ...

I had my first experience of work in summer, a few years ago. Not that the work was a real need for me, it was just my best friend, who offered me to earn some money and to have some fun by working together with him. We worked as waiters in the local café. One day, I was serving the table, where a couple was sitting. They were ordering a lot of food and after they finished eating, they paid for everything and left, but their wallet was laying on the table. Nevertheless, it was so much money in ...
Payment methods and technologies have shifted a great deal over the years. Gone are the days where cash and check transactions make up the bulk of the give and take that occurs when people engage in commerce, travel and otherwise spend their money. Credit and debit cards have ruled the roost for a while but some new contenders are starting to emerge. The first major alternative to the conventional credit cards and other more traditional methods was PayPal (PayPal, 2017). However, smartphone-enabled technologies such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Android Pay are starting to dominate the commerce and ...
Immigration to the Country of Dreams
In terms of population the US is the third country in the world. Apparently, the United States will keep its place in the future, in the top ten countries, as well as the rate of natural increase in the population of the USA is quite high for a developed country. The population of the country was formed and is forming mainly due to the mass migration from the different regions of the world, so the ethnic composition is very complex. Americans of the United States are a conglomerate that includes over a hundred ethnic groups. (Abram 46) This research ...
Heathcliff is my favorite character because of the depth of his struggle to reconcile his love for Catherine and having lost her. He begins to go mad and sees her ghost, begging her to come back. Even though he had moments when he hated her, he would rather have her there to torture him as a spirit than leave his completely alone (“Wuthering Heights Overview”).

In the last few decades, the use of social media has taken over peoples’ lives. In fact, it is hard to believe that several years ago there was no Facebook or Twitter. It is worth mentioning that three decades ago, cell phones were only available to the wealthy members of society and the commoners only waited to hear from each other through telegraphs, letters, and other outdated methods. Today, social media sites such as MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn as well as virtual world’s such as Second Life, Sims, Club Penguin, and video sites such as YouTube and blogs ...

Only a year ago I had a falling out with my best friend, a man I’d known for well over ten years of my life. When we first met he was single, without children, and a borderline alcoholic. He had a steady job, a stable home, but no one else in his life save for friends who were either drunks or habitual drug users. We met by happenstance since we lived in the same apartment building, and he had seen me coming and going more than once. When he invited me to his apartment for a drink with ...

Societies have their base on human interaction. For many years, human evolution has depended on communication for fulfilling needs and setting new challenges. The migration of tribes, the first forms of commerce, the birth of civilizations were all possible thanks to communication. One may see the evident impact of communication on the evolution of the world, which has obviously changed from the pre-historic times to the present.
Even though communication has not always led to positive outcomes, humans have proven that only good and effective communication leads to success. The transformation of tribes into empires depended greatly on who ...
Abstract
Over thirty years after its identification, HIV and AIDS remains a somewhat elusive virus, particularly when it comes to its history as a human infectious agent, and resourcing a complete epidemiology of the disease. Part of the problem is that so many antiretroviral drugs have come out and have either been used or prescribed incorrectly. In addition, the virus, like many other reverse RNA transcriptase viruses, has a very high aptitude in terms of developing resistance to drugs at a very rapid rate. What further complicates matters is how quickly it has spread. It will probably never truly be ...

There are some experiences that many people fear more than others, like burning alive or being trapped in confined spaces. However on experience that can inspire profound fear and panic, for people of all ages, all across the world is not being able to breathe. The inability to breathe is terrifying. Not be able to get air into the lungs is a serious concern; if the body goes too long, as few as three minutes, can result in serious health problems and brain damage that may be difficult to overcome even if their lives are saved. One of the ...

Fifty-five-year-old Peter Dolan was the only man in the family – he lived with wife and two adult daughters. The family had a garden plot 30 minutes away from home. The paper will explore the reasons why children were made a part of the consumer socialization process by marketers as well as how the consumer behavior characteristics of children develop as they mature. Therefore, the conceptual framework for the article will start at understanding the progression of the Consumer Socialization Process as it applies to children, followed ...
The United States of America is a country that has been characterized by the cultural diversity of its population. Since many centuries ago, people of various races, nationalities and creeds have lived together in this great nation, yet not always in a peaceful manner. The article “Melting Pot or Salad Bowl” seeks to explore the extent to which cultural assimilation has happened in the United States.
Traditionally, Christians of Caucasian descent have been the dominant culture in the United States. Even though this was even upheld by laws before, it is now still true to a certain degree, as ...
While writing this sociology autobiography paper let me introduce myself. I was born and raised in Europe and came into the United States 18 years ago. During the first few months after moving to a new place I was feeling as if I was an alien, because in most cases I did not understand what interlocutors said. In real-life situations the Americans do not make allowances for the fact that you are a foreigner, if you for sure not ask them about it. In my Motherland there were no diversity people, with only white dwellers and the few black ...
