Introduction
The use of physical restraints in the care of psychiatry in-patients has been prevalent for centuries. However, in recent years there has been a call among nurse practitioners to reduce and altogether eliminate the process which is in contrast to the goals and ethical practices of the nursing professions which states that all human beings have the right to autonomy and the right to be treated with dignity.
