Burnside and Machiraju (2013, p. 1) states that the European Commission initiated consultative meetings with regards to possibly widening the coverage of the “European Union Merger Regulations (EUMR) to “non-controlling minority shareholdings.” The conference was simultaneous to the decision of the United Kingdom’s Competition Commission ordering Ryanair to reduce its Aer Lingus shareholdings from close to 30 per cent to 5 per cent.
