According to Lance Ulanoff, using Wikipedia as a source for writing any academic paper is not advisable. According to his article Wikipedia: You still can’t trust it, he expresses his feeling about Wikipedia saying that it should not be trusted to give any proper academic information. He had several arguments to support his claim why Wikipedia should not be trusted whatsoever. His main argument as to why we should not trust Wikipedia is that anyone can get access to a Wikipedia page and put any information they feel like without verifying whether the informat6ion is right or wrong. Paul Roberts’ use of the college experience is different as compared to Eggers' use of the college experience. The reason for this is that in Roberts’ case he does not give college examples from his own experience. Rather, in his essay he makes up a fictional situation where students are required to write a 500-word essay over the weekend. Eggers uses examples drawn from his own personal experience while at college. He discusses how he was able to utilize his free time volunteering.
Another difference in the use of the college experience is how easy college students can relate to ...
Observation is the first possible way for each and every of us to learn something about the outside world in our lives. Children are copycatting the things like language, manners or the role models from parents and family. It is the initial method of acquiring information for every human being. But does it mean that this way of learning is the ultimate method of learning? In this paper, I will define this issue in the case of my personal experience.
On the contrary, such way of perception of information can harm a student`s learning. Firstly, this method had ...
I can see several interesting ideas in this paper, and I like how the personal experience is included in it and analyzed in the theme’s perspective. In my viewpoint, the traits of the people are well-described and grounded, as well as a personal example. Different sides of leadership receive their proper attention, and the areas, in which personal work is needed are also identified. However, I should say that it is difficult to catch the ideas of the paper as a logical flow is not very good, and I think that if it were improved, the paper would have been ...
Week One
This week, we examined the definitions of key terms which are pertinent to the course. I personally felt that this week’s study was crucial to furthering my understanding of the overall subject: this week provided a foundation on which all other knowledge could be built. In particular, the discussion of the definitions of ‘power’ was of interest to me as I find it to be such an ambiguous term which many misconstrue as being associated with tyranny, evil and social discontent. However, I have realised that this is only one form of power and that, in practice, a society requires ...
PERSONAL ASSESSMENT
For all the students in any learning institution there is always one suitable way in which learning appears easier. Among the styles used I found auditory the most suitable method as I got to understand whatever I was taught. Any explanations the teacher made on the course work in graphs, handouts and other notes given by the teacher, I realized it was easy to remember than when I read for myself. Moreover the teacher gave practical examples that are easier to relate to unlike those given in the books that are hypothetical. This way it is possible to apply ...
Getting engaged is not as simple, it seems, as it used to be--the moment the question is posed, (Will you marry me?) the hoped-for response stated, (Oh, yes! Yes! Of course I will marry you!) and the ring is revealed from a hidden pocket or jewelry store box, applied onto the left hand ring finger with somewhat unsteady hands, (a diamond is traditional but a quality birthstone or other gemstone is quite acceptable) the veritable parade of emotions, events, conversations, purchases, and actions are already marching through the couples‘ lives. Getting engaged is complicated, especially at this time in our American society, ...

Of Losers And Moles: You Think Reality TV Just Writer Itself?
I found myself living out a high school fantasy, a couple of summers ago, in Playadel Carmen as I was chasing stunning Playboy playmate Angie Everhart. As she disappeared, I quickly snapped back to reality. I was there as a writer for ABC's "Celebrity Mole: Yucatan," and was to investigate what Everhart was saying about the former MTV VJ Anada Lewis. Would they be dueling divas, headed for a catfight by day's end? I needed to find out. With the earpiece that picked up the two women's microphones, I began taking notes. ...
On September 20, 2001, nine days after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the President of America at the time, George W. Bush gave a speech to address the Congress and the nation. The speech recounted the events past briefly, identified the cause of the event and the perpetrators involved: it also consoled the American people and identified heroes who discharged their duties well. The speech was ended with a promise to the American people to ‘bring justice to the enemies of freedom’.
The speech was well crafted to induce a specific action from the American people: ...
Abstract
When a person you know and are fond off kicks the bucket, the experience can turn your entire life upside down. The way people react to the situations is different. The response depends on the upbringing, age, relationship, nature of the occurrence, beliefs, mental and physical health, etc. The incidences are characterized by emotional and mental crises that can ultimately change the course of life for the person who experiences loss. Through a detailed evaluation of various theories concerning grief and their application to a personal experience, it is possible to understand the common reactions towards loss. The knowledge ...
In her essay, Jo Goodwin Parker describes the situation of an unnamed poor woman, the single mother of three children, using first person narration. The woman’s extreme poverty and her desperate situation are described in great detail in order for the audience to be able to understand it. The essay was written for the American public, and specifically, for middle and high class citizens, who have no idea what poverty is, and who despise poor people believing that they are unwilling to change their situation. In addition, they ignore people who ask for help, and they care little ...
Background information
This auto ethnographic is based on a typical self-reflection of my own and explores my personal experience connecting the respective autobiographical information to cultural acts like the use of communication styles and tools, the sexual division of labor, attributes of leadership, and equations between productivity and hours worked. It looks at how this culture diversification shapes different forms of norms and events.

I believe that learning and creativity are closely intertwined. In our everyday life, every person probably experiences learning at one point or the other. Learning is integral to life. There are a myriad experiences and activities that are new to each and every person every day. As a child I learnt how to speak a ride bicycle with the help of my friends. It took a while but eventually I was able to balance myself on the two wheels: something I believed impossible. When I finally tested myself on a motorcycle in my teenage years, the only skill I ...

Introduction
In a paper presented at a symposium on teaching children to think creatively, child psychologist E. Paul Torrance (1972), creator of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT) (Torrance, 1980, 1966) says,
I know that it is possible to teach children to think creatively and that it can be done in a variety of ways. I have done it. I have seen my wife do it. I have seen other excellent teachers do it. I have seen children who demonstrated a disability for thinking creatively learn to think creatively. I have seen them continuing for years thereafter ...
In his grand truism theory, Kurt Lewin introduced a heuristic equation B=f (P, E), meaning that behavior is a function of the person-environment interaction (Kihlstrom, 2013). On the other hand, there is the environment. The environmental factors are a factor outside the person's character. When broken down, the environment comprises of both the physical environment and the social environment. According to Kurt Lewin, every behavior is a social behavior, meaning that behaviors are greatly influenced by the social environment in which one functions (Kihlstrom, 2013). Based on this brief introduction, this paper presents the analysis of a personal situation ...

Discussion of three reflective pieces on business Profit, Careers, and a Meaningful Life.
Trying to figure out the best ways to balance business pursuits, without being greedy and being aware of preserving the natural environment for example, is not an easy feat to reasonably accomplish. The world today is surprising and complex. The global economy, shaky politics, and new international rules leave room for business people to really think about how they want to establish their business practices and policies. This essay is a collection of three reflective pieces regarding different, but fairly correlated, aspects of business choices and ideas in society in our modern world.
Reflection #1: Whether business pursuits should think about more than monetary profit, like protection strategies for the natural environment.
After reading the Captain Planet article, ...
Reflection on Diversity
Reflection on Diversity
What can be more comprehensible and at the same time more complex than interpersonal relationships? The only thought that comes to my mind is the relationships between the groups, groups that are built from individuals with their own educational and personal backgrounds, racial and ethnical diversity and social and economic attributes. Individuals comprise groups and these groups, social, economics, business, environmental or any other have, essentially, the same purpose – create a feeling of belonging and build on our individual comfort zones. Human being is a collective thinker that finds his personal identity and builds individual cognitive and ...
As shown in the previously completed papers, the poem “A Slumber did My Spirit seal contains several aspects of social, feminism, nature and finally the culture industry. The relationship of this piece of poem with the mentioned aspects was explored. However, there are still other elements related to this poem that can be subject to more research in order to understand the poem even better. One specific area of research is how this poem fits with the modern institutional structure of the relationship between man and woman, that is love. From the poem, it emerged that the poet ...
Mental Model/ Mindsets and their Impact on Employees
Mental models influence the decision-making abilities and performance at workplaces. The common type of mental mindset is the preconceived perception a worker develops through experiences. The effect that the mental models have on employees and human resource managers is preventing the achievement of their full potential. The perceptions filter out most presented observations as threats (Kohl, 2006). If a worker recognizes such a limited mindset, they can work toward viewing issues from logical and unbiased viewpoints. Some mindsets work against strategic changes in companies and proposed projects. As such, it is important that the managers of the company breakdown such mindsets for ...
Sociological imagination connects an individual’s imagination to events and other people in the society. There are three key principles in sociological imagination; history, social structure and biography. Mills’ hypothesis states that people are able to understand themselves and the reality around them by linking their personal experience with structural and historical forces (Mitra&Sarabia, 2005). In this paper, I will correlate my personal experience from events that have happened around and how they have influenced my decisions. This concept needs to be applied carefully since it attempts to create a connection between public issues and my personal experience (Schudson, 2008).

Chapter 9: Descartes
1. "I find here that thought is an attribute that belongs to me; it cannot be separated from me. I am, I exist, that is certain" (Descartes qtd. in Soccio 260). What does Descartes mean by this statement and why is it so important?
Descartes claims that there is no ego without a thought (mind) and this ego does not exist in a thoughtless state. That is one of his most important ideas, which led to a well-known statement - “I think therefore I am”.
2. What is meant to be proven by the wax example? How does Descartes go ...
Decision-making Theories
Decision-making can be considered the result of cognitive processes that lead to the selection of a course of action from various alternatives (Gori et al. 2011). In this regard, this paper provides examples of decision-making processes based on the hypothetico-deductive theory, the psychoanalytic theory, and social identity theory (cite textbook). These examples will also be based on personal experiences.
Hypothetico-deductive Theory/ Rationalism
The hypothetico-deductive theory uses the scientific approach to decision-making, that is, the decision is based on logically developed theoretical knowledge (Jefford, Fahy and Sundin 2011). This is based on the philosophical schools of empiricism (i.e. trust in the five senses) and ...
“Be quiet! Do this! Don’t do that!” We come across or hear commands, directions, instructions and orders almost every day. So many people obey orders on a daily basis and most of the people who obey orders usually feel coerced. Apparently, people obey orders to cooperate or because they are afraid. In fact, often people obey orders against their own desires and better judgment (Milgram). So is it possible that people are prone to unjust authority? Many people might disagree. Many might claim that examples such as Nazi Germany and Abu Ghraib are simply “extreme” examples of the urge ...

Prejudice and Bigotry in the Matter of Interracial Relationships
Despite the fact that economic and social disparities between black and white Americans disappear gradually, situation in the sphere of inter-racial marriages is quite different. Even the United States today are the very segregated society in many respects. The most interesting indicator of segregation in American society is interracial marriages. At the end of the 17th century, slavery in some southern US states was replaced by indentured servitude (black worker was obliged to work on his master a certain amount of time, typically from 4 to 7 years, without receiving ...
Leadership is an ever-evolving, and dynamic concept with different approaches to effective leadership have been proposed time-to-time by scholars. In my personal and professional tenure, I have different experiences as a leader as well as a follower. I remember an instance when I was working with a senior HR manager, Mr. Jame. He was an outgoing person with a charismatic personality. Working with him made me realize the significance of emotional intelligence at work. The way he was able t regulate the emotions of his team according to the work requirements made him one of the most popular leaders ...

A traffic accident on Gloucester PI resulted in an alarming case of road rage in Brighton on Monday, creating a traffic jam that lasted nearly an hour.

After a short verbal confrontation, the woman then drove forward and ...

The first lesson from the bath is to go with the flow, and be flexible without breaking. The second lesson is to exude confidence, regardless of one’s size. The third lesson is to ...

The purpose of this assignment is to conduct a multifaceted and complete analysis of the service, provided by the Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant, operating in direct customer service in own physical space as well as catering. To narrow down this analysis and due to the limitation of the personal experience only to direct customer service in the restaurant, this document will look specifically at this aspect of the business. To better understand the proposition of the restaurant it is important to look at its business model. Founded in Delaware in 1993, today the organization operates over 2000 restaurants ...

The Red-Headed League relates the case of the red-headed pawnbroker Wilson, who became a client of Sherlock Holmes after a chain of bizarre events occurred to him, leaving him baffled. The assistant of Mr. Wilson, Vincent Spaulding, who spends a lot of time in the cellar of his pawn shop, told him about the job advertisement that was hiring only males with red hair. The job was easy and well-paid and Mr. Wilson easily landed the job, as the color of hair satisfied the interviewer from the Red-Headed League. Mr. Wilson had to work only four hours a day ...

Fredrick Douglass’s work is a landmark writing that serves as an indicator of racism, slavery, and degrading practices used by the slave owners. While it may seem that the essay “Learning to Read and Write” depicts the struggles of a teenage boy in self-education of reading and writing, however, the work has a deeper meaning (Douglass 100). The main argument of the essay is that slavery degrades the slaves, the owners, and the entire society. By condemning individuals to miserable living, restricting their access to basic goods, and limiting their chance for education transform the owners to the ...

As a documentation of my personal experience, I got moved so much with anecdotes. Still, in the same line with my class work, I got to have a good experience with anecdotes. Therefore, it became my first choice when the teacher asked us to write about our personal experiences. The subject was within the context of the discussion. Furthermore, one can only get to have a feeling of an anecdote using the five senses. That is, the sense of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste, through all these senses, I was able to in culminating my most interesting anecdote. ...
Application Paper
I have learnt about individual and society, and came to know that everyday feelings, activities, actions, and thoughts of an individual are a result of complex interaction between many social forces and characteristics of an individual at personal level. Sociological imagination is a capability of considering influence of social forces on personal lives of individuals. There are three major types of rules in every society, which are norms, values, and mores. Rules can be in the written form, or they can be just known. However, people individuals who break unwritten rules are called deviants, while those who are involved ...
The first step in a sociological research process is identification and development of a topic. One can begin by stating the topic idea as a question. This is followed by identification of main keywords and concepts in the question. The concepts and keywords can then be tested by looking them up in appropriate sources such as libraries. Too much information and too many sources is an indication that the topic should be narrowed down. Too little information is also an indication that the topic should be broadened.
There are unlimited topics from which a researcher can choose. Many researchers ...

Weird Personal Experiences
We can often hear people say that they saw something with their own eyes or heard something with their own ears. Moreover, those people experienced a lot of extraordinary things. However, their eyes can lie. Sometimes people do not know that their experiences can mislead them in the most unexpected ways. This happens for some reasons. Mainly, people's perceptual capacities and states of consciousness are believed to have natural powers and limits (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 96-153).
A lot of people do not know about those powers and limits. However, these weird features of our minds have a great ...
A Research Proposal First Draft
Abstract
While many researchers and practitioners alike are still finding that it is possible to help children develop creative thinking skills, we are also finding that this practice isn't being incorporated for all our kindergarten and pre-school children. The purpose of this paper will therefore be to investigate the ways in which children at the preschool/kindergarten level are being supported in the development of creative thinking skills, as well as the particular role this has played in helping kindergarten students. After initiating a review of the literature to guide the study, the methodology will involve data collection—interviews with ...

Introduction
When I first started university I was understandably nervous, and I had many thoughts running through my head. One of the prevalent thoughts was primarily focused on results. I wanted to do well, but I was aware of the challenges that lay before me. I was aware that my studies in higher education would not be easy.
In addition to this, I was aware that in order to achieve the best results, I would have to do get out of my comfort zone and work harder ...

Such researchers as Torrence (1980, 1966) and Diamong and Lee (2011) inform that various tactical approaches have been used to boost the creativity of children to develop executive and diverse skill. These researchers commend the application of pedagogical model to influence children creative skills during the early education. Models to influence creativity like computer, Osborn Parnes, and general semantics among other are being applied to impact it. The struggle for practitioner to foster creative thinking in children still precedes research psychology research fields. Torrence (1972) argues that creative thinking in children is not only possible, but can also be ...
Personal Ethics
There is absolutely no doubt for me that any contemporary society requires ethical values to be observed by everyone.
These values are necessary because they would serve to regulate the relationship between people and set some particular rules of accepted behavior. Besides, basic universal values are already spread all over the world.
Living in a society we are all interdependent. If I can rely on people around me, I am able to move forward without any feeling of fear or suspicion. Moreover, I am able to learn from these people how to be consistent, I learn what it means ...
Edgar Allan Poe and the Concept of Death
One of the most puzzling detective writers, Edgar Allan Poe still remains to be a mystery for both experts in literature and common readers. In his stories E. Poe attempted to draw the image of death, an incredible and at the same time an inevitable enemy of the human race.
Death is all-powerful as well as the feeling of fear or even horror of a human in the face of death. It is not accidentally that the author places his characters in a space isolated from the world – it can be a torture chamber, well, jail, old estate – where ...
One of the introductory visions in the Book of Revelation is written in chapters 4 and 5 that the Lord Almighty is the one seated on the heavenly throne. The vital theme of chapters 4 and 5 is the own vivid and personal experience of the prophet. It implies that the statement has the element of truth and it has the substance of apocalyptic declaration that is totally associated with the life of the visionary individuals to the present generation of believers. However, at some point, the visionary process separates from the conscious or subconscious imagery of human thinking. ...
This presentation deals with what motivates people and it turns out that it is much more than a stick and a carrot because people are not easy to decipher. Their psyche is complicated and their behavior cannot always be predicted. People are not so easy to be manipulated which is why this presentation is challenging the usual beliefs. The story is about being rewarded and being punished which foster particular behavior while discouraging the other. There was a study at MIT which involved eminent economists who discovered that students perform well when they can do menial jobs, but it ...

The author’s writing encompasses a characteristic that is almost poetic in nature. Primarily, the intention is to remind the readers of the natural wonders out in the wilderness by describing ...
Response 1.
When people believe in the fact that all knowledge is a resultant of experience and in particular sensory experience, they tend to base their ideas on empiricism. According to a group of philosophers who are British, the notion of innate ideas that asserts that every idea was came about as a result of experience. Empiricists are those individuals who claim that experience is the origin of all knowledge. Hobbes was a mechanist empiricist as well as materialistic since he asserted that all activities of human beings were in due course reducible to mechanistic and materialistic. Also, Hobbes believed in ...

Psychological Abnormality
The concept of mental abnormalities in behavior has always been a debate among psychologists and psychiatrists. Practical application of this concept in psychology and psychiatry comes down to personal experience gained in professional work. It is the main criterion for evaluating diagnostic data of personal properties as the mentally ill and mentally healthy people. Despite the fact that the performance of various personal properties by test standards may be lower than the test norms of certain personal qualities. Psychiatrists most rely on personal experience, based on which they determine psychological diagnoses of individuals to assess their mental ...
Abstract
Grief is a personal experience. It is a process that happens internally. People who undergo significant loss don't get over it; they learn to live with it. There are losses that are not socially accepted. Individuals who experience such losses are not allowed to mourn by the society.
Loss and grief is a normal part of our lives. However, a lot of people avoid talking about the topic. Most people are not comfortable discussing death and the only time people get to talk about death is when someone dies during the culture-specific rituals that are performed after death. When ...
Globalizaton has become one of the central issues of discussion in many disciplines, including psychology. The latter is particularly concerned about how globalization influences the identity that usually develops during adolescence, and how the global culture affects the local ones. Previously the differences between teenagers across the world, including the differences in their perception of the world, family and themselves, were the results of the influence of local cultures. However, today they are developing the increasing number of similarities in behavior and perception than ever before, often discarding their local cultures in favor of the global one. Unfortunately, this ...

Life has become lot more complicated than what it was ever before in the history of mankind. Probably, even in comparison to as late as the last fifty years, life today is far more complex, communicative, and all life events seem to happen in real time. Today, there is so much knowledge about everything and knowledge is virtually free.
Knowledge no longer endows a strategic advantage on the holder of knowledge. There is so much complexity that everything seems specialize. Knowledge is so freely available today that everyone acquires it at all levels and therefore carry an opinion of ...
Management: Four Functions of a Manager
Introduction
“A manager’s primary challenge is to solve problems creatively” (Carpenter, Bauer, Erdogan, 2006). Manager is supposed to be able to plan the entire company’s activity as well as the performance of its employees; this person needs to organize all of the working processes in the most sufficient way in order to reach the target; manager has to be a leader so that other workers would not only listen to him\her, but would also respect the decision taken; moreover management position requires the ability to control company’s processes, thus, to make sure the organization is ...
The most challenging aspect of meeting the requirements of this essay was the fact that I had so many ideas that I lacked the right words to present. The essay is all about the personal experience I have had during the transition from the Chinese education system to the American system. Given that I am yet to learn all English vocabularies, some of the ideas I had were not well expressed.
During the revision of this essay, I first sat back and re-read the paper. This was to examine whether other readers could make sense of what I was ...
The monopolistic condition is a market condition in which many small operators exist in the market selling competitive(similar but not identical) products. Product differentiation is a primary characteristic of the monopolistic industry. Many sellers make independent decisions regarding price and output based on the market and the cost of production. Knowledge is widely spread among customers, but it is not likely to be perfect.
Grocery stores or supermarkets are one of the classic examples of imperfect competition. There are a plethora of products available for different brands, different packaging, and different customer loyalty. Among available items are also ...
Personal Experience
We all live in a society that is governed by laws and norms, setting rules for us and telling us how to behave. They give us some set guidelines as to how to behave in the society and what kind of behavior is expected from us. Social norms are the traditional standards of behavior and any behavior that lives up to these norms is known as conformity. Different nations and societies might follow different norms. What might be allowed and normal in one country might not be in another. Different social groups in the same country will follow different ...

The participant’s results have shown that learning through social-cognitive conditioning can be successful providing the existence of the four factors. Informal learning through classical and operant conditioning is effective as well and is widely used in the modern educational system. However, it is advisable ...
