Introduction
The sociology of childhood in the contemporary society focuses on the social construction of the child. The social construction of the child deals with how the child differs in terms of social, cultural, historical, and economic perspectives (Shanahan, 2007). Sociology of childhood deals with viewing the child from these different perspectives unlike in the traditional way. The traditional way failed to understand childhood in the socio-cultural, sexualized, and gendered context.
