On May 15, 1946 British cruisers "Orion" and "Superb", while passing a southerly direction through the Strait of Corfu, were shelled by the Albanian artillery. Five months later, on October 22, a squadron of British warships left the port of Corfu and headed to the exit through the strait of the same name to the north. Previously English ships cleared the strait from mines. However, not far from the Gulf of Sandra, two British ships ran into mines and suffered considerable damage.
