Martin Luther King in his ‘volume of sermons’, expresses the need to have a synthesis of opposites in our life. In the chapter titled ‘A Tough mind and Tender Heart’, he says how Jesus preached his disciples to be, as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove. Through these words King asks his followers, to develop a tough mind and a tender heart. He says a man should have a tough mind, which would discern truth from false, and cleanse itself from prejudices and superstitions.
He adds how soft-minded people are prone to fear change, and ...

1. I would advise the client that this is an appropriate design and should be adopted. This is because their estimates are lower than the expected costs of the project. If no better alternative is available then it should be adopted.

This music makes me feel relaxed and calm, as the melody is the embodiment of patience. It is very monotonous and tranquil, but there is not a feeling of being bored while listening to the music. The man uses rapid musical transitions changing the tempo, which makes the music colorful and bright.

It is so dynamic that I cannot sit in one place. The rhythm is mixed, so the sounding is very unusual. The music makes me feel so vital, as if I am full of unquenchable energy.

Love is the most common and the most uncommon thing ever. The first epithet is characteristic for love, as this thing happens (or at least is supposed to happen) in everyone’s life regardless of life, whereas the word “uncommon” is natural for love as well, as it is as unique in every life as possible. Therefore, stories of Kalidasa and Chretien de Troyes are read with lightness; however the times of their creation have been covered with dust for many long years. Such lightness can be explained with the mere fact that authors touch such eternal topics, which ...

Acceptance under Australian Contract Law
- Introduction
- Laws of Contracts
In a discussion paper by the Australian Government it has been rightly observed that “Australia’s system of contract law is based on English common law as developed by Australian courts. These common law rules are supplemented by equitable doctrines, Commonwealth, State and Territory statutes and international law instruments. The terms of contracts themselves also guide the parties’ expectations and performance”. It goes without saying that the laws of contracts are the most important branch of business laws.

Public entities must always act in a lawful, transparent and accountable manner. They must act in such a manner for two cardinal reasons. The first is that these entities utilize public resources from taxpayers’ pockets and must, therefore, do everything in their power to make prudent use of these resources. Secondly and most significantly, their actions may end up affecting thousands or millions of people`s lives and livelihoods and, therefore such actions need to be carefully examined, lawful and transparent. These are some of the best practices that are elements of good governance that characterize a democratic society. In a democratic society, ...

William Blake, the famous English romantic lyrical poet, wrote this musical poem, “ The Lamb”, which was published in his book “Songs of Innocence and Experience.” It is simple in style but a metaphorical poem with allusions to the Bible.

William Blake, a romantic poet of the late 18th century, published the poem “ The Lamb” in his poetic collection called the “Songs of Innocence and Experience (Blake, 1789).” There is an air of innocence in the poem as the speaker asks a little lamb about its creator. Mental Illness as an Escape from Cruel Society in The Bluest Eye, Tender is the Night and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Mental illness in literature is often a way to accentuate eccentricities, make a character seem dangerous, or lend a character a greater sense of tragedy. The best examples, however, involve using the specter of mental illness as a way to reflect on the way society oppresses the Other, and how these people can use it to empower themselves and their own sense of agency. This latter example is highlighted in Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye, F. Scott Fitzgerald’ ...

I will have to finish up my bachelors at my mid-40s because the female education in the society is not valued. To me this is a social problem because it has affected many people in our ...
There is a belief in many people in the society that a child’s learning begins at the kindergarten, preschool or grade one. A child’s brain starts to develop at a very tender age and learning starts through interactions with siblings and adults around them. This leads to development of communication skills and language. It is said that children learning ability is developed when they are born and early literacy starts with developing emotions. The ability of a child to learn and develop skills is determined by family affiliations and the connection they have with those around them (Orlando, 2010). Strong bonds ...

For my comparative essay I decided to take next songs: No Doubt – “Just a Girl” (1995) and Colbie Caillat – “Try” (2014). I was thinking a lot about the topic of these songs. It seems to be that they are about gender or sexual identity, because each of these songs is about girls imagine. But after listening to the lyrics several times I understood both of songs describe gender identity. These songs are about girls but very different images of girls.
The first song by band “No doubt” tells us about typical American girl of middle 90: she has her ...

Yusef Komunyakaa’s, “My Father’s Love Letters,” is a tender, painful inside look into a broken family. More startling is it is given from the view of a young child who does not understand the situation. The mother has fled to the desert, evidently after being abused. Now alone and left to parent on his own, the father has decided to turn to drinking and ask his child to write pleading letters to his wife, asking her to return. Interpreting the situation is difficult for the child. He remembers his father during a more tender time, when he would bring his mother ...
Careers that involve the application of mathematics, science and engineering skills contribute majorly to the economy. Despite the fact that women have made progress in their education in the past 50 years, the disciplines that involve mathematics, science and engineering courses are still dominated by men. This has been attributed to several factors, like the social and environmental barriers. The negative attitude that women have towards these subjects is the primary reason they chose to study other disciplines. The attitudes are mainly shaped by the societal norms, the legal system, and the professional practice that the women get.

A Good Education overtures a holistic approach that addresses an individual’s body and mind, as well as the spiritual aspects.
Aims of a Good Education
“The habits we form from childhood make no small difference, but rather they make all the difference. — Aristotle” (“Keeping the Whole Child Heathly and Safe” 6).
As Aristotle observed, the habits formed in childhood are significant in shaping an individual’s later life. Our souls are nourished by the presence of others, but the nourishment comes from caring. Therefore, the challenge is how we can disrupt the current system to ameliorate the lives of children and parents.

Statutory Rape Law: The Case of Matthew Koso
I agree with the ruling of the Court in the case of Matthew Koso. The purpose of statutory rape legislations is not only to prevent teen pregnancies, but primarily to protect minors from engaging in sex at an age when they are presumed to be incapable of giving consent. The Nebraska statutory law places the age of consent at 16, and the age of perpetrator for prosecution to be initiated at 19 (ASPE 2008). Koso impregnated the girl at the very tender age of 12 when he was in his 20s, before he actually married her some two years ...

Procurement Process Contract Validity
Offer – An offer describes the expression of a willingness to enter into a binding contract on given conditions, and as such, it is expressed with the purpose of it becoming binding if the set terms are satisfied. According to Storer v Manchester City Council (1974) and Gibson v Manchester City Council (1979), an offer must be both specific (time and place, quality, quantity, means and time of communication etc) in its invitation for other parties to enter a binding contract, including without any further negotiations, because it includes the understanding and invitation of a supplier’s assent, which will conclude the contract. Effectively, ...
One thing that has real fascinated me in life is music in the sense that it has helped me in one way or another to form a collective story. When you think about different generational stories that you have heard created by great performers for instance buddy Holly and backstreet boys. You will recognise that there is tremendous leap that can be found. These were the acts that have generated buzz and in addition to that, they have been able to shape their music generation.

This is one the common themes that run across the two articles that is the poem and the song. In both of the articles nature plays a huge role in influencing humanity especially at tender age. However in the various articles, the theme is presented in different ways including symbols and the general presentation of the theme especially the appreciation of nature. In both the articles innocence of the Lamb and the early child representation signifies how nature can be associated to the calm and innocent. Association with nature is generally a common appreciation of nature in both the literal works ...
In this poem, a committed lover goes on to wish the most heavenly things for his ladylove from the innermost core of the heart. Yeats pours his emotions into the cauldron of this beautiful poem and the reader is left with goose bumps after absorbing the exquisiteness of the emotion of love.
In the first five lines, Yeats goes on to express the surreal things with which he wishes to adorn her. The lady is no less than treasure for the passionate lover. His dreams unfurl their wings of desire and the reader is also left lost in a realm ...
The situation in the education sector has changed significantly from the past few decades. The number of young children finishing high school and joining colleges and other tertiary institutions is increasing by the years. This brings to question whether the decision of parents letting their children join college as soon as they are through with high school is beneficial. There are advantages and demerits of taking children directly from high school to college without giving them a gap year to adjust. However, there is sufficient evidence alluding to the fact that moving directly from high school to college allows for ...

The ancient Sparta is a good example of an ideal hoplite state of ancient Greek. Sparta was proud for having avoided tyranny and enjoyed a permanent state of her constitution that was almost unthought-of of in the 5th century.
In the 10 BC, the city state of Sparta came into existence. This was as a result to the defeat that the Dorian community had over the non Dorian communities when they attacked them. The Spartan community came into existence as a political entity and as from 650 BC; they steadily grew stronger because of their military prowess that was far much above others ...
It’s a bright and warm Sunday morning, and as I jog along the park's walking trail, my mind is busy with thoughts of mouth-watering sizzling steak on the grill. They say that, “Exercise helps reduce food cravings,” but that doesn’t work for me. The more I exercise, the more it triggers my appetite and the sheer thought of marvelous succulent, savory steak fueled my cravings.
Sundays always give me the blues as it brings back memories of my dear Grandma who cooks the best Salisbury steak that were so good- to- the- last- bite. I grew up ...
Over the past 25 years, IBM has been divesting from a number of its core businesses. IBM’s core businesses have over a similar period been faced with numerous challenges. As a result, sales and revenue have been declining over the years. However, the paradox of all this is that despite the declining sales and revenue, IBM’s stock value has been rising, a welcome situation for its shareholders (Henschen).
The increase in share value despite a shrinking IBM illustrates a shift in the evaluation of companies over the years. Focus has shifted from a company’s value based ...

However being hidden among the abundant and eloquent metaphors, the poet raises in the poem a wide range of issues. It may be noticed that according to the certain topics raised the mood of the poems gradually changes, too: firstly, the poet provides the flashbacks to the early childhood and praises mother tongue, depicting it as “a tender flower with lots of fragrances”, “an ornament for dignity and beauty of people”, “a playground for their incessant aspirations” (Laoti 1). The tone then changes when he illustrates the existence without a mother tongue: “Neither heart neither leaps up ...

American Literature
One of the most charming and striking characteristics of the American literature of the nineteenth century is its naïveté. The protagonists regardless of being positive or negative heroes have a unique trust to the world and people surrounding them. This naïveté adds to the romantic and sincere nature of the poem or short story. It usually enhances the idea mentioned in the story and is intended to emphasize the meaning of it. To a certain degree, it may be taken as a symbol of American literature of the nineteenth century as naïve ideals and naïveté ...

The topic of 'Making Fun of Americas Drinking Age Being Too High' is a fascinating topic that needs immediate attention. The idea of minimum drinking age in America is a controversial issue. The U.S. has a law that allows people who are twenty-one and above to consume alcohol. On the contrary, there are a large number of underage drinkers. Some thinkers feel that this law is going a mile in reducing the number of alcoholics in America. On the other hand, some strategists advocate for the need of lowing the minimum drinking age. The county needs to emulate other ...

Summary and analysis of The Lamb by Blake
Introduction
“The Lamb” by William Blake originally published in Songs of Innocence in the year 1789. The Lamb is among the 19 poems in the Songs of Innocence, and is one of the most widely read poems in English language. Although the poem is considered as a child’s song due to the simple rhyme and rhythm scheme, the poem becomes more complex in suggestion and allusion as it progresses. In the poem, “the lamb” shows innocence and purity (Cunningham, Reich, and Fichner-Rathus 589).
Blake starts his poem with a pastoral ...

I remember my first encounter with one of Salvador Dali’s paintings very vividly. The painting was the one with the leaping tigers. One of my friends was going through their luggage that was in a suitcase in my room and the card with the image fell. At that time, we were all manga and pop music oriented. This seemed out of place. She said that it was her ...

This essay briefly outlines three principles that the parable of the fig tree is conveying by the direct teaching of Jesus Christ. When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk, you'll end up as the Pope.' Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso. (McNeese, 2006, p.105)
Pablo Ruiz y Picasso (1881-1973) is one of the main representatives of the 20th century art, and the co-founder along with Georges Braque of Cubism. With significant contribution to the formation and development of modern and contemporary art, Picasso is one of the most prominent artists of the previous century, an artistic mastermind who managed to ...
Businesses today tend to extend it businesses beyond domestic borders. For the businesses to be successful there should be negotiations. The biggest problem with the negotiations is that the parties involved are often from different countries with different culture and beliefs. For there to be common ground and for all parties to come to an agreement there must be strategies in place to ensure the success of the negotiation (Moran, Harris, & Moran, 2011).
Negotiation is the process where parties come together to try to reach an agreement on the unresolved situation and to arrive at a common goal. It ...

The Five Factor Theory of Personality
The Five Factor Theory of Personality is a framework that most psychologists use to identify and analyze personality attributes. Psychology experts and professionals began to recognize and accept the importance of this theory starting in 1980’s (McCrae and John, 1990). Based on this theory, personality traits have five basic dimensions: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. These five dimensions are popularly known as the Big Five Personality Traits.
For each dimension of the Big Five Personality traits, also known as the Five Factor Model, corresponding characteristics are associated.
Extraversion
The first dimension is Extraversion, and this is associated with warmth, gregariousness, assertiveness, activity, excitement seeking, and positive emotions (McCrae and John, 1990). Using a ...
Love- A feeling, a word and a sensation that has made people laugh, cry , kill, poets write realms of poetry, scientists try and understand what it is all about and many others wish for it. There are different kinds of love- the love a mother has for her child, the love a father shows his children, love for friends, pets and then there is romantic love. Of the above, perhaps it is romantic love that has been the most written about and vilified. Love is also a state of being that makes a person experience different emotions at the ...
There is sufficient proof that links heavy drinking (HED) to somber issues amongst university pupils. This has led to a debate across the country on whether the minimum legal age drinking should be reduced from 21 to 18. Considering a number of issues, I believe that the minimum age drinking should not be lowered. First, lowering the drinking limit to 18 will pave way for teens to be drinking in bars patronized by adults aged between 21 and 34. These adults are likely to drink more heavily than the teens because they have had many years of drinking. The ...
