Background
“Black Swan” is about Nina Sayers, an aspiring ballerina, who had to deal with the pressure of her career, discordant relationship with her mother, and sexual advances from her mentor. Nina wants nothing more than to play lead in the New York City ballet company’s upcoming “Swan Lake” production. Her chance came when Thomas Leroy, the director, dismissed Beth, the lead, and subsequently chose Nina to take her place.
