GENERAL INFORMATION ON DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT
Objective of dental implants
After losing teeth, the supporting bone segment is no longer essential and begins to gradually disappear (Misch, 2008). Once this begins, the missing portions can be replaced with removable dentures or fixed bridges; this process enhances visual appeal, corrects speech impediments and improves mastication. However, complications can occur when replacing living tissues with artificial apparatuses. Dentures have been shown to decrease the efficiency of the chewing process, initiate additional bone loss and often experience inadequate retention (Knowles, 1958). Furthermore, dentures may require additional support, which affects the healthy teeth that are ...

The question of the death penalty was relevant in varying degrees throughout the whole history of world governments. However, one should not overestimate its importance in today's global environment, which is characteristic of many politicians, legislators and academics.
Aristotle once said: "Only then can we know the essence of things, when you know their origins and development." Therefore, let’s start with a historical perspective.
Historically, the death penalty is "evolved" from the ancient custom of blood feud that is existed in pre-state societies and is expressed in the formula "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." ...
The ultimate goal of every medical practitioner is to provide the most efficient services to the patients. It happens to dentists who look forward to giving satisfactory and durable restorations. - The columnar epithelium from the stomach resembles the columnar epithelium from the duodenum in many aspects. The columnar nature of the epithelium in both instances serves for increased protection of the underlying organs and organelles. The simple columnar epithelia found in the stomach and duodenum also contains the largest cytoplasmic volumes in comparison to all the other epithelia, housing organelle density and energy reserves suitable in the engagement of the most complex of secretory and absorption functions. The duodenum epithelia however, posses an extra microvillus which aids in increasing the surface area for absorption. The epithelia in the ...

It has been a long standing debate for over thousands of decades whether or not imposition of capital punishment is an effective means to deter commission of crimes. Advocates of capital punishment or death penalty makes reference to the biblical passage from Exodus 21:23-25, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a tooth for a tooth,” which means that for every wrong done, there must be a compensating measure of justice. While on the other hand, the group who believes that capital punishment is severe, degrading, inhuman, brutal and cruel sentence, and it is only God who is the ...
1.0 Biological Pacemaker
Pacemakers are electronic devices implanted in individuals with bradyarrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) to monitor and regulate heart muscle contractions. Biological pacemakers have been developed that will involve the injection of pacemaker genes from stem cells into damaged heart tissues to restore normal function and heart rhythm. The biological pacemakers are designed to down regulate the expression of the hyperpolarization activated cyclic nucleotide gated (HCN2) channels and the potassium current as well as up regulating the β2 adrenergic receptors. The adoption of biological pacemakers over the electronic pacemakers offers various advantages. Electronic pacemakers require battery powering and maintenance while the ...

Colonialism had long reaching effects on indigenous cultures, economic systems, literature, and religions. Of those four, religions were the most personal and the most stubborn to change. It was not until the late 18th and early 19th centuries that the British first contacted the Buddhist religion. For the British, it was a bit of a shock to find a civilization willing to accept their rule and yet, a religion so constant and resilient as to be able to reject Christianity while absorbing bits and pieces of the religion and the British culture into their own.

Happiness is a notion, which is widely discussed since it is cannot de described exactly. Different people have different understanding of the term. But one thing is for sure that it is reflection of one’s good deeds on others, return of a favor in other words.

The manifestation of conscience delineates man from other animals species as conscience is proof of man’s self-consciousness; an attribute that is only observable among human species. As a learned psychological faculty, ...
Complications of Removable Implant Supported Prostheses
Introduction
The two main complications that result from removable implants are biological and mechanical/technical complications. There is need to assess and interpret data on the incidence of complications, both biological and technical with caution. Berglundh, Persson, and Klinge (2002), found that implant loss was the most common problem, while technical complications were observable in about 60-80% and biological complications – 40-60% of the studies they evaluated. According to Sadowsky (2007), there are no specifications on the length, distribution, and number of implants; however the suggestion for non-palatal coverage designs should be a minimum of 4 implants. In case of risk ...

The existence and involvement of the superheroes in this American version is portrayed to dramatically affecting as well as altering the forthright outcome of the well-known real-world occurrences inclusive of ...
Topics in Philosophy are boundless. It could deal with politics, existence of beings, the human soul, metaphysics, and much more. However, there is one unique philosophical thought which relates to nature; and this is all about vegetarianism. The known proponent of this naturalist’s view was James Rachels. The tenets of his argument started out on this major premise, that it is not correct to induce pain unless there is a justifiable reason for doing so (Rachels, 2004, p. 70). With such statement, there are induced sufferings which can be considered morally correct because they are justified by the ...

Witchcraft has always been a popular topic of many countries’ folklore. People loved to write and read about what they feared, and throughout history, they mainly feared the unknown. Witches and wizards were people that didn’t fit social norms. They might have been lonely, antisocial, or they might not do things that were expected from them (single and childless women, unemployed men, people who didn’t go to church and/or believed in God). Sometimes women who were “too beautiful” were accused of witchcraft as well. Witches were sometimes people (usually women) with a strong intuition, those who could ...
The ethical debate whether the use of torture to get information is justifiable or not remains a hot topic among many philosophers. The issue in the minds of most people has always been whether the critical information obtained from the torture justifies the evil act the terror suspect is subjected too. Most authorities will justify torture with the end result. Terrorism has always been an evil perpetrated against innocent people by groups with different motivations. Authorities will always argue they hold the responsibility to protect their citizens at any cost.
The quandary in the whole scenario has always been ...

Hart Crane's "To Brooklyn Bridge" is a rare poem that effectively uses diction to convey the immensity of something as large as a bridge. "To Brooklyn Bridge" is much more than a dedication to the famous bridge. The poem's word choice represents the grandiosity of the bridge itself. Its diction and tone combine to achieve a quintessential work that accurately depicts the size and importance of the Brooklyn bridge to New Yorkers and non-New Yorkers alike.
In the first stanza, Crane asks a question in a rather inquisitive tone. "How many dawns, chill from his rippling rest/The seagull’ ...
The important concepts of law and justice are necessary foundations that lend legitimacy to a state, in particular and to a society and/or a civilization, in general. Owing to the intrinsic differences in social organizations the concepts of law and justice have varied definitions and approaches in the West and the East. A valid comparison of the Western and the Eastern approaches to these concepts make the comparisons and the contrasts extremely enlightening (Nov 17).
The Western legal culture primarily evolved from the Judeo-Christian sacred texts, the Greek philosophy and logic, and the Germanic-tribal or folk (law) traditions. After 380 AD ...

The world operates because of education. It has long been written that human intelligence holds the credit for the progression of man. We enhance this gift as soon as we enter school. We have spent almost a quarter of our lifetime inside the walls of learning institutions. With this, it is only right to strictly scrutinize the system to ensure quality teaching.

The code of Hammurabi is perhaps one of the earliest recorded attempts of humans to create a standardized justice system. Although most of the code’s provisions are considerably harsh, considering the time that the code was made, it can be considered as revolutionary. The code of Hammurabi was named after its author, King Hammurabi of Babylon. Historians believe that Hammurabi descended from the Sumu-abum dynasty of Ancient Babylon in 1894 B.C.. He ruled the city state of Babylon, the present day Iraq, between 1792 and 1750 B.C. Hammurabi was the sixth ruler of Babylon and ...

Physical fitness encompasses many areas of life. Its basic meaning is that the physiological mechanisms are working non-pathologically in light of the age of the individual. There are several components of physical fitness. Diet and metabolism make up one part. Another part can be thought of as cardiovascular health and muscle tone. Hygiene and freedom from disease make up a third component of physical fitness. The ancient Romans said: mens sana in corpore sano, or sound mind in a healthy body. Increasingly it is being shown that physical fitness contributes to mental health.
