Introduction
The USA patriot act came into law in 2001 and was created as a result of the September 11 terrorists attacks. The Patriot act empowers security agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation to use appropriate tools to track and prevent terrorists from committing terrorist activities (Torr, 2006). The law empowers investigators to search personal information of U.S citizens or detain foreigners who are considered a threat to national security.
