Can you imagine living in a girls-only family? I mean a family that has only girls, no boys. I surely cannot! Firstly, the sight of many kids makes me feel anxious. I can imagine a house where when one kid cries and other kids follow pursuit. In addition, girls are more likely to cry a lot more than boys. I feel terrified just thinking of living under such circumstances. Pamela Vitela is a woman who lives in this kind of a Mexican family, and she is the eldest girl in her family. Why did I say she is a woman? Because she is already 18 years ...

In recent debate, there have been questions raised as to whether the juvenile justice system is too lenient, allowing juvenile offenders to repeat grave criminal offenses and get away with them, citing little to no parental guidance. Some individuals, and institutions alike, have been advocating for the instituting of dramatic measures such as the revocation of parental rights, removal of children from the home, and even forced sterilization of parents convicted of felony abuse or neglect. However, I do not believe such measures would work to mitigate and/or eradicate cases of juvenile delinquency.
While dramatic and stringent measures may ...
1. Why professionals should understand brain development
The early stages of child development play a pivotal role in the development of the cognitive skills of a child, which depends entirely on the development of the brain. The role of the professionals is to ensure that the child has the best environment to ensure that the child remains healthy while enhancing the development of the proper cognitive elements of a child. By understanding the brain, the professionals are able to modify and institutionalize practices as well as teaching methods that enhance healthy development of a child especially in learning and adopting new things.

ACT I
OPENING IMAGE – Shot of a rainy cityscape at night; a clock strikes midnight. Joey Amana walks out of the back door of an underground casino, hurriedly and with a stifled expression of panic in his face. He holds a briefcase, and stumbles toward a car on the far side of a parking lot.
(Insert flashback scene of previously in the casino: text on the screen could read “5 Minutes Earlier” or its equivalent. Joey is confidently pulling in all the money he just won in front of some angry mobsters. He says he did not cheat, he just “knows how to play cards.” Voiceover ...

My narrowed topic is the negative effects of sexualization of girls
Audience:
My audience is the parents or guardians of girls aged 7 years and above. This is the target group of people who needs to be educated on sexualization of girls’ culture and its negative effects for their children. In so doing, I expect that they steer forward the campaign of neutralizing the popularity of this culture starting from their homes.

1. The goal of direct guidance strategy is to produce desired behavioral change. Children require guidance in day-to-day life in order to produce a given behavior. This habit is important in shaping the behavior of the child.
2. Some of the effective ways to provide verbal guidance include the use of general or simple terms to express a serious issue. The early childhood teacher should speak in a relaxed tone. Children are sensitive to the loud voice and may respond to it by speaking louder (Miller, 2012). Lastly, the counselor should use statements that encourage children. Positive statements make children respond ...

Learning is a complex exercise which requires a conducive atmosphere and surrounding. In fact, research studies suggest that conducive a conducive learning environment is importance in preparing a learner for the learning process (Hue and Li, 2008). This paper shows how an environment promotes positive interactions and behaviors among learners. For purposes of effectively covering the objective of the study, the paper will present the findings of an observation made from a visit on a childcare facility that hosts three different classrooms with students of different ages. Finally, the paper will reflect on the experience of the school visit observation and show the relevance of ...
Infants reach several milestones from the very moment they are born up to the age of one year. During this time, babies change with regard to their reaction to everything around them and each day unique growth and development is noticeable (Martin 2008). It is imperative to not that each individual baby reach their milestones in their own unique way and at their own pace. Many of the milestones that they reach cut across and do not vary greatly (Meggitt 2006). There is a child I have seen grow and develop from one stage to another reaching these milestones just ...
Women have always been treated unequally. Often, they are viewed as intellectually inferior, which is why women performed domestic chores while heavy labor and decision making were often given to men. They were not allowed to vote and kept from acquiring education, among others. Following is a conversation between staunch supporters of women’s causes in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Mary Wollstonecraft (MW): I am Mary Wollstonecraft from London, United Kingdom. I am from the 18th century, the era that rated women as second-class people. During my time, women were taught to center their minds and time ...
Nice and peaceful. Just the way I like it.
I set the shovel to one side and wiped the sweat from my brow. I will just wash away the traces of dirt that smeared by face as the mud-stricken gloves accidentally brushed my flushed cheeks. I looked around one more time just to make sure that nobody saw me. At 3:00 am on a cold October dusk, I could never be sure. Teenagers nowadays stay awake nibbling on their laptops. It was hard work but well worth it, considering the consequences of not doing it. My hand reached for ...
The Seagull by Anton Chekhov and “Chekhov for Children” by Philip Lopate.
Chekhov's The Seagull is known to reject the conventional dramatic subjects that dominated the theater at that time. The intensely dramatic events are not seen on stage, and The Seagull brought about a fundamental change in not only how the plays were written but also how they were acted. Chekhov for Children by celebrated writer Phillip Lopate is an inspiring reflection about his experience with the child actors and how he teaches them. This is an assessment of the nature of childhood and evokes the question as to how does one demarcate between experimentation and self-indulgence. The choices made by ...

A Day To Remember
She heard small voices talking about how to switch on a toy, followed by a tick sound that switched the toy to start. The small voices started to giggle happily, as if they were seeing something silly and fun. After a long sound of laughter, there were small footsteps walking around and slowly running around. There were scrambling and sound of cabinet doors opening and closing.
And then she opened her eyes.
It was so relaxing and felt that she had enough sleep. She remembers the night before she passed out. George, her husband, and she was talking about how ...

We were thinking that after this grueling task that we are going to have in our work, we will bring the kids out-of-town. We also talked about how happy we are that our friend Rita is getting married soon. ...

The vision of the author here is magnificent. He has admittedly created the atmosphere where machines are developing their own conscience, and are no longer under the control of men. The comparison of the lights of the machine with dog’s red eyes in the photographs is vital and dark. The mankind has no other choice but to pray and wish that the machines turn out to be forgiving. The purpose of the creation of these machines is unknown as the creator is long gone. Now, the rest of them have nothing but the fear and absolutely panic in ...
During the last three months, I have been engaged in several community service projects related to developmental psychology, especially child psychology. As a volunteer, I worked with many children and adults dealing with a wide range of issues: learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, trauma, and abuse. Through my experiences, I have learned to apply the material learned in the psychology classroom to real life situations. I performed the following four good deeds in the past three months: volunteered as a tutor to provide after-school tutoring and homework assistance for a child diagnosed with Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), volunteered to provide weekend care ...
Dangers of TV and Video Games on your Children
Do you know that TV shows such as Barney & Friends, Junior Showtime – Jeff Evans are harmful to your kid? Even if TV is a high tech source of entertainment, education and information, it has negatively influenced the lives of children in the country. According to Paik Comstock (1994), 90% of households in USA have TV sets. While this should be appreciated as a progress, a lot of questions should be raised about the use of TV by young children. Surprisingly, no one has imagined thinking about the dangers of exposing young children to these technologies.

There is an ongoing debate of “nature vs. nurture” in the psychological field. How much of a person’s childhood experiences influence who that person becomes as an adult? Can a child with a happy “normal” childhood morph into a nefarious monster? Or could that child become a successful banker on Wall Street with a family of his or her own? However much the nature fact may come into play, it does not discount how strong a child’s experiences can play on his or her behaviors and interactions as an adult. In fact, it can be said that a child’s experiences can play just as big ...

Maggie: A Girl of the Streets by Stephen Crane explores a theme of naturalism in American literature. Crane uses the third person narrative to tell a story of Johnson family during the startup of industrialization at the end of 19th century. Protagonist Maggy is a small ragged girl, who lives in a grim tenement with her parents, her younger brother Jimmy and a toddler Tommy. She usually looks after Tommy before he dies. “The building quivered and creaked from the weight of humanity stamping about in its bowels” (Crane II). She is usually quiet and vulnerable: “Her features were haggard from weeping, and her ...

Sharon Olds, the author of the poem is telling herself, and at the same time is making us aware of the fact that in this world the bodily pleasure is more important than the true feelings and real emotions. She presents the alleged lovers in an aura-like story as they are compared with two dancers or ice skaters, and this analogy is making us believe that they are having an idyllic romance in which everything ends beautiful and natural since both ice skaters and dancers represent the ideal of beauty and youth and off course the partners show each ...

There are many orators who with their speech and choice of words appeal emotionally to the audience, and one such orator was Martin Lurther King Jr. His emotional appeal was strong enough to provoke the thoughts of people and encourage them to act. Martin compares the Negro’s as a bad check that bounces back and keeps increasing the majority of the Negro’s in Unites States. He saw that black people were treated unfairly and had a dream that people of all color would work together (Nelson, 2002). There is a movement in society today to educate elementary and secondary students about morals, ethics, integrity, and respect in the school system. Teachers and school administrators argue that there are not enough hours in the day to add courses and concepts such as these to an already overflowing curriculum. They claim that it is not the schools’ responsibility to teach students about such issues. Such duties are the responsibility of the parents or caregivers of the students. That used to be the case. Parents did raise their children most of the time. Almost all children did learn about morals, ...
The writer of this journal is very satirical. He uses a lot of irony and sarcasm to reprove the government over the state of affairs in the country. The writer describes how the city’s streets are filled with beggars of every kind and how many citizens are victims of circumstances. According to him, poverty leads to more poverty. The population in the country is so large but the number of ...

Letter #1:
Dear Bruce,
I enjoyed reading your piece as articles about family is always fascinating. We live in a world where children seem so distant from their parents. Technology has consumed family bonds and this has taken a toll on how parents raise their kids. It’s amazing how much children can be so sucked in by the new gadgets and devices. Teens have more freedom now than they have ever had before. The idea in raising children through family stories, tradition and tightening bonds seem so important now, especially in our age. The most tragic events children now go through ...

I take this moment to appreciate you and the ministry for the desire to ensure that our children in school are not only fed but also given healthy foods. However, it is with deep regret that what you actually meant is not being practiced and hence making the entire program more of a curse than a blessing. I understand that the program was to ensure that all children, irrespective of their economic background access food in school and above that, to minimize the rate of child obesity in United States. The issue of ...
Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that develops in the tender years of the child within the first three years. The disability has permanent impact on the child’s muscle coordination as well as body movements. The cause leading to this state is damage to areas of the brain controlling the functions. It should be kept in mind that the individual suffering from the disability does not have mental disability and can actually be extremely intelligent.

Abstract
Observing T.J. in the playground was an insightful experience and provided me a clear understanding of a child’s behavior and overall development. I observed him for fifteen minutes very carefully and closely. In this paper I have attempted to explain the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of the child and his individual needs.
The playground is a place where children feel free to act and behave however they like. T.J. came across as a very social child, who had respect and concern for others, because he apologized for running into his teacher by mistake, also let another child ride with ...

The sounds that I heard in the {add name of park} Park made the park seem bigger than it actually is. There was no ambience in the sounds I heard, so the foreground and the background sounds were strongly contrasting with one another, which induced an auditory illusion. The pitch of the sounds in the park, especially the voices of the children who were yelling ...
Morrison (1994) statement, “What I think the political correctness debate is really about the power to be able to define. The definers want the power to name. And the defined are now taking that power from them” holds true in a sense that being sensitive in using public statements is very important. It also refined the idea that power is related to saying politically correct terms.
According to Max-Need’s classification of needs, “identity” is part of a category wherein people needs a sense of belongingness and self-esteem. People want to define their own identity as a person to be able to ...
Holidays are a time fraught with tradition and cultural significance. When I think of holidays I think of a time for the celebration of life. Usually this celebration involves coming together with loved ones and remembering the traditions of the past. Traditions play a large role in psychological wellbeing of society.

Peter Elbow wrote a very interesting article titled “Writing First”. In it, he posits the idea that it discourages children from learning if you put reading before writing, like what is traditionally done. He also proposes that, for college students, writing before completing a reading assignment in either a creative writing class or philosophy class can help the student to approach the assignment with an open and an especially inquiring mind. What Elbow proposes is intriguing, and it makes sense. Now, I do not completely agree with him when he says that children should be taught to read by learning first to ...
