Axis I
Lucy suffers of a major depression or depressive condition. She is getting the attention or medication with the antidepressants. This depressive episode is causing a lot of disturbance in her daily life activities. The medical pain is extreme hence making her to fail going to her workplace.
Axis II
She is suffering from a personality disorder, which has contributed to the development of the depression. The attempted to commit suicide shaped her condition of depression. Her history of depression is as a result of the medical pain and being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The personality disorder induces the depressive episode in axis I.
Axis III
Depression disorder is triggered by the events around the affected people. Lucy condition is influenced by the fact that she is diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Sadness and anxiety are among the disorders that are relevant to the condition currently affecting Lucy. Symptoms of depression may be confused with those of the anxiety disorder.
Axis IV
Lucy has been going for counseling since her condition was becoming difficult for her to handle. This condition leads to an attempted suicide by taking a host medicine. Lucy weight went down by a large range due to the harsh conditions affecting her well-being. The feeling of grief, sadness and crying has made her stop doing her hobbies.
Axis V
During the period of assessment Lucy level of functioning, vary depending on the factors triggering the muscle pain. At the highest level of the function, her children encouraged her by giving the emotional support. The children depended on their mother for financial assistance. In another case, Lucy’s level of function indicates few symptoms that is, she was able to perform her duties at work.
Question Response
Treatment of this disorder is aimed at reducing the muscle pain, which is troubling the life of Lucy. The major objective of the treatment is to ensure Lucy gets the best and becomes capable to attend her daily job as a receptionist. Depression refers to a mind state where an individual becomes overwhelmed with the events taking place around and gives the feeling of worthlessness. It is very significant to conduct an interview with Lucy to determine or examine physical changes caused by the depression. For instance, her weight loss clearly indicates the degree or level to which the disorder has affected her state of inner turmoil. The treatment style aims at establishing or discovering Lucy’s family history, how the family member deals with the different scenario brought along by the disorder. The other objective of the treatment style is identifying the origin of the disorder and come up medication that would help Lucy overcome the pain. Having the background information on the origin of the disorder would facilitate determine whether it is caused by psychological, biological and social factors. The treatment styles aim at the creation of a well defined an established mechanism to handle the disorder. This means the principle disorder enhances the entire process of diagnosing a person with the disorder. The objectives of coming up with method to treat depression disorder are to reduce the chance of a situation that may force Lucy to commit suicide. It would also give her good health and be in a good position to provide the financial support required by her children. The treatment would give Lucy a different opinion on how to handle and feel about herself concerning the disorder or other challenges.
