There are wide ranges of available and innovative technologies in the market that promise to provide every company the efficiency it needs. In fact it is overwhelming that if you don’t conduct enough investigation and analysis, a company may end up of purchasing several of these products and not getting to optimize its functions. Based on my experience, it is necessary that prior to acquiring and implementing any of these technologies, we should conduct an enterprise-wide analysis about our organization. We need to apply a holistic approach and analyze and investigate according to the enterprise architecture of the organization. With the assistance of our company’s technical experts, we need to investigate what is in place in terms of business, application, data and technical architecture . By identifying what are the existing technologies and how do we intend to move forward, the company should be able to define its goal for the future while we align it to the objective of the business. We cannot do this all at the same time; therefore we need sit down with the company’s executive sponsor and identify our priorities, goal and timelines. This approach will definitely give a clear direction for the entire company and approach each priority one-by-one, or some could be parallel depending on the resources .
Furthermore, before implementing any technologies, it is crucial to understand the business process of the organization, what can become automated and what can remain manual, in order to have bigger perspective on how to implement efficient processing. One of the latest technology that promotes economies of scale, while optimizing the process of the company, is cloud computing. Cloud computing is a technological approach where services in terms infrastructure, software or platform can become available from service provide without the need for the organization to maintain within its premise. This approach ensures reduced spending for technology-related expenses, streamline processes, enhanced accessibility and potential globalized workforce . If carefully planned and supported by project sponsors, this approach will definitely improve the processes of our organization, enhancing productivity and efficiency with the work outcome of our employee, at the same time, giving faster, well-organized and professional service to our client.
