Why should one eat healthy food?
Fast foods are highly processed, but have very little nutritional value. Usually fast foods are either cooked in micro oven or deeply fried. People who would like to consume fast foods must be extremely cautious because many of them are detrimental to health for two reasons: Fat and salt are major threats to human body. First, fat has high calories. Second, fat is sure to cause weight gain and high cholesterol counts which lead to heart disease. For example, French fries and Taco Bells Volcano Nachos contain a lot of harmful fats. French fries are long and thinly cut slices of fried potatoes. As they are deep fried in oil, they have high fat and calorie content, which cause diabetes and obesity. Also they contain more carbohydrates. Though carbohydrates are essential to survival, they must be consumed moderately. Excessive consumption of carbohydrates will lead to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Taco Bell Volcano Nachos are crunchy, freshly prepared tortilla chips with beans, seasoned beef, warm nacho cheese sauce, red tortilla strips, cheesy molten hot lava sauce, and topped with reduced-fat sour cream. Containing about 1000 calories, Taco Bell Volcano Nachos are the worst among the fast foods. Besides fat, too much salt in fast foods leads to high blood pressure, causing heart disease as well as other health-related problems. But not all the fast foods are unhealthy or harmful. Some fast foods are really good for health. A green salad is a lot healthier than a hamburger. One may also choose greenish vegetables, spinach, green beans, tomatoes, and fruits. Cole slaw's two main ingredients are a lot of vitamins in them: Cabbage is an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber; carrots are full of vitamins A, K, and C, and also potassium. At the fast food restaurant, one should ask for vegetables and main dishes to be served without sauces. One may also ask for olive oil and vinegar for the salads. If the food is fried or cooked in oil or butter, one may go for boiled or steamed fast food. Grilled and roasted chicken meals have the lowest fat content and the lowest saturated fat. Chicken also has the lowest fat content of sodium and fewer calories than most fast food choices. Everyone needs sodium, cholesterol, fat, and calories to live. A mashed potato for instance is always better than fried. When eating at a fast food restaurant like Applebee one may choose the Tortilla Chicken Melt Quesadilla which filled with low-fat cheese and a lot of fresh veggies, including broccoli, red peppers and even crimini mushrooms. In the Red Lobster restaurant, he best dish by far is the Garlic-Grilled Jumbo Shrimp. The dish is about a dozen large (not jumbo) shrimp on skewers that have been grilled. The seasoning is good and the shrimps aren't greasy. It comes with Wild Rice Pilaf that is good, but instead you can order a baked potato that is better. These choices may be coupled with seasoned broccoli to have a pretty good meal at 402 calories and only 8 grams of fat. Majority of fast foods are not good for health, but if one is choosy, one will carefully be able to avoid the items that are detrimental to human health. Further when you eat fast food, you should make sure that you eat little, and also only the foods that are less in fat, salt, carbohydrate, but high in vitamins and sodium. A little care is important in the interest of your healthcare.
