Essay 1: Job Security
As a young boy, I grew up under the care of my parents who were both bankers. Life seemed okay as they catered for the family needs and paid every bill. I grew looking up to them as my role models and yearning to also pursue a career in banking. Many a time my father asked me to decide on my future line of a profession in my childhood so that he could support my course to pursue the dream career. I had my mind settled on following their path and becoming a banker. However, in the wake of the financial crisis in 2008, an event that gave me a second thought happened. As the banking industry struggled to cope with the heavy economic meltdown, many financial institutions decided to lay off workers to regain stability amid heavy losses. Nobody had envisaged that such a calamity would strike. Everything in the family changed to gloom as they figured their next course of action. It is at the point that I realized that job security was a critical factor in career decision making. After rigorous soul-searching and research, it became apparent that nursing was the best choice for my future security.
Essay 2: Diverse opportunities
Having grown in a family that solely pursued a career in the education industry, it was apparent that I would also follow suit. Just like many people adore working in the learning institutions, I fell in love with the corporate mannerism that my parents showed in their line of profession. They were extremely professional in their behavior and passion made me their top most admirers, however; as events unfolded and became of age, the need to look for a different career ensued. Despite the thought of seeking fortunes in another field of profession, I still felt that I could give education a try and follow my original dream of becoming a tutor. Later, my father started to complain about his working environment and how handling students had become difficult and a stressful endeavor, but he had no other option. He lamented how a group of students had developed a negative attitude against him. One evening as he made his way back home from school, unknown assailants descended on him and left him for the dead. He had been severely beaten up and unconscious. The need to pursue a career that offers diverse opportunities beckoned and realized that nursing offered it.
Essay 3: Touching lives
My little grandmother suffered asthma when I was a kid. The time was unfortunate she had not shown any sign of illness. At the time, I did not have the idea of what she suffered. Being at home with her alone, she appeared to struggle to get a breath, but those who came first could not help but wait for the ambulance. Everybody looked dismayed and helpless. After about five minutes she had succumbed to the untimely fatalism. She had gone to where fate takes humanity. The memories of my lovely grandma revisited me several times, and I imagined having any medical knowledge. In my illusions, if I had the medical knowledge I could save her life. Unfortunately, my ignorance on medical issues led to her death. The incident changed my line of thinking and felt that nursing would equip me with the necessary patient care skills to help other people who suffered the same fate. I grew up pondering a career that would help me save lives. I began aligning myself to medical careers but eventually settled on nursing. The death of my grandma was so painful that I resolved to acquire nursing skills to prevent future premature deaths.
