Our country’s good is a play is a fascinating play that put into light evils such as sexuality and punishment. It exposes the rising crimes in England. The wealthy citizens and middle class were afraid of these crimes especially the stealing of property. The crimes were due to highly increasing population and unemployment in England. Because of this, criminals were forced to migrate into unfertile primitive parts of Australia. The royal marines, who took the convict there, were so angry such that they decided to mistreat the criminals by killing and torturing them as to revenge these prisoners were afraid because of the natives of Australia whom they thought that they would capture them.
The first trip carried 300000 people under the supervision of these jailers (royal marine) to live there. In the prison, life was not easy, options were limited, and therefore, some convicts and one officer decided to make a play for entertaining them in the camps when life was boring and unbearable. However, it was not that easy because only a few of the convicts could read. In addition to that, they had no experience in the theater performance, and it looked funny for them to appear before people but, these challenges did not make them lose hope. They had to do a lot of practice to make things work out well with them.
In this play, the person who pleases me most is Philip, the governor. Before he did something good or bad, he had to think critically first. He thought deeply about the purpose of the prison. Was it made to punish the prisoners or is to make them change. There is a case where Tench informs him that, prisoners enjoy hanging as part of the entertainment. On the other side, the same prisoners wanted to play. He thought wisely and provided for the solution to balancing the situations because he wanted the prisoners to enjoy themselves and avoid crimes too. Philip decided that the play for entertainment was good but for the three thieves who stole food were to be hanged. The play focuses on the change of ways of which prisoners were to be punished. Later in the play, we find that killing is not a humanitarian punishment and was to be abolished. There for there was a need to seek for better methods of cutting down of crimes in the society of England.
Comic strip
Comic script is a funny but an educative picture or a drawing with many teaching behind it. Comic script is used to lay information indirectly. The ones that interest me most are comics that deal with my life experience. Up here there, I have drawn a child.
In the first panel, the child is learning making an effort of blowing a bubble. This reminds me of the times my mother used to teach me how to walk. Sometimes I kept an effort of working alone, which was very difficult due to many falls I made, and ended up crying.
The second panel shows a child making the bubble float in the air and this reminds me about of the effort I make in my life. Sometimes they become so discouraging and when I am almost to give up the fruits come.
The third part of my picture shows the bubble burst. This part reminds me of the pleasures things and people I lose in life. Both life and things are not everlasting and one day they will have to perish.
Finally, the fourth part of my drawing, the boy is annoyed and trying to think of something. The fourth panel explains that, once things go wrong, we should find for solutions instead of giving up. Life is a process and there for everything has a beginning and an end so, we should utilize any opportunity that comes on our way.
