Providing Supportive Leadership
Leadership is a significant aspect of keeping employees of the organization motivated and involved in its operations. A supportive leader can work closely with the employees by keeping them focused and looking out for new talent. A supportive leader acts as a role model by ensuring responsibility and accountability to motivate the employees.
Empowering the Employees
Every staff member in the organization always wants to feel valued, and know that his or her work helps the organization to attain its desired goals. Every employee should be given a chance to express himself or herself and ensure that he/she creates value to the company. Encouraging the employees to display their aspirations plays an important role in changing the view of work as a little routine which goes a long way in improving their morale (Zhang, & Bartol, 2010). Even though professionalism is highly encouraged in organizations, employees should be empowered by having the permission to be their normal selves apart from being professionals.
Creating a Positive Working Environment
Since the employees of the organization spend a lot of time in the company premises, the workplace should be positive in such a way that it motivates them to become involved in the company’s operations. As the CEO, the leader should ensure that he listens more to employees to understand their challenges and frustrations. A supportive leader also ensures that they assign duties to employees according to their skills and be ready to help the ones who might get stuck (Naquin, & Holton, 2002). A negative working environment occurs in a situation where the employee is given challenging duties without directions on how to perform them.
Encouraging Teamwork
The best way to keep employees of an organization focused, responsive, involved and motivated is to make them belong to a team instead of making them work alone. Employees in a team can trust and work with each other and thus have the have the ability to care for the team and not just themselves. The employees are also able to feel motivated and end up helping the organization to become more productive. For instance, in a team setting, employees have healthy competition by competing among each other, a practice which goes a long way in increasing productivity in the organization.
Recognize and Reward
Every successful organization always has a reward system which rewards employees according to their productivity to the company. It does not matter whether the reward is large or small as employees value the effort made by the company to recognize their efforts. Recognizing and rewarding the employees from time to time reminds the staff members that the company appreciates them and is ready to help them achieve short and long term goals.
Knock Out Boredom
Boredom prevents employees from staying motivated and getting involved thus reducing productivity in the organization. The best way for the CEO of the organization is to ensure that there are ways of keeping employees lively and engaging. Employees are motivated by companies which allow them to explore and be inventive and not just following routine organizational processes (Amar, 2004). Keeping employees involved also entails ensuring that all the repetitive tasks do not fall on the same employees each time to reduce monotony. Employees should also be allowed short breaks to catch up and refresh before they resume with their work.
Eliminate Dissatisfaction
Job dissatisfaction mostly emanates from the lack of motivation from the employees when the organization fails to involve them in the organizational processes. The best way for the organization to deal with such an issue is to ensure that all sources of dissatisfaction such as intrusive supervision, uncertain future and tiring paperwork are eliminated. Employees get satisfaction by realizing that the management of the organization is at least working to address their needs and thus they can focus on undertaking their respective duties.
Foster Career Development
Employees are demotivated and demoralized when they realize that their current job positioning makes them stagnant and they do not progress in their careers. Employees like organizations where their position helps them to grow in the career by offering them education, training and opportunities (Zhang, & Bartol, 2010). Every employee always wants to develop and grow in his or her careers, and thus they can become demotivated when the organization does not help them in that course.
