Communication Skills
According to the result of the quiz I am a capable communicator, which means that I am able to avoid confusion, to try to see the perspectives of the future interaction with others. At this point I cannot but agree with Susan Sonnenschein, who says that ‘as competent users of language we must be able to communicate our ideas and needs’ (Sonnenschein, 1988).
In my opinion, I also try to keep myself clear and always find it unexpected if someone misunderstands me.
I communicate in an effective way in both written and oral forms. When communicating in the written form I try to be as detailed as possible.
When talking with others face-to-face, I find it important to pay attention to the details and even to the body language of the other person.
After taking the quiz I see that clearing out the issue immediately would help me save my time and efforts.
Perhaps I also have to try to make myself as clear as possible in order to avoid or reduce possible misunderstanding and misconception.
Here I find it of great help to widen the usage of various diagrams, images or charts.
So, in other words in order to improve my communication skills I have to work at expressing myself and making myself clearer when delivering messages.
When receiving messages I should not ignore the details and would better clarify everything at once.
As for the aspects which were not covered by the quiz, I have to mention the proportion of communication channel usage. It still remains unclear whether I am more successful in oral or written communication.
