1. Research “Google” using Google, and describe the first two (non-Google, non-Wiki, non-Facebook) “website hits” that appear. How did these two “hits” make it to the “first displayed” positions in a Google search?
In search of the term Google in the Google search engine, most of the initial websites that were displayed are those of Google Inc. The first non-Google websites to be displayed was CNN. The website reported on the death of Alan Rickman, an actor in Hilary Potter films who died at 69. The second non-Google website displayed is Daily Mail online homepage. Both are media houses. The reason that they are ranked first is because of the high web inter-relations between Google, CNN, and Daily mail. It is also as a result of the frequency on which these sites are sought online (Davis, 2015).
2. Explain Google’s AdWord and AdSense services and describe how each benefits a firm considering online advertising with Google. What are the differences in the two services?
Google provides both AdWord and AdSense services. The applications are used in online advertising. AdWord enables advertisers to place ads on search engine results. It helps them to select specific terms for use in an ad as well as manage their accounts. It helps advertisers to selectively identify customers when they use the selected terms in their Google search. AdSense, on the other hand, is used by web owners for placing advertisements near their websites page rather than search results. Web owners use this application to place adverts on their websites. The main differences between AdWord and AdSense is that, while AdWord helps in placing ads on search results, AdSense helps in placing an advertisement on the web of the host (Davis, 2015).
3. Do you think that Google is financially successful in their online advertising business model? Explain why or why not.
Google is very successful in its online advertising model. The organization generates over 20 billion dollars annually in revenues. It also takes 60% of all online advertising revenues, leaving only 40% to other players in the online business (Davis, 2015).
4. What other areas of growth are likely to be pursued by Google in the future?
Other areas that Google is likely to pursue in the future in relation to online marketing are mainly blogging. By empowering individuals to develop Google blogs, an advertiser would end up placing ads on such blogs, benefitting Google and the ad developers (Davis, 2015).5. “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit” (Psalm 147:5 NIV). Describe the vastness of God’s wisdom, knowledge, and power in consideration of the power of humans’ marvels such as Google.
It is true that God is almighty. His power has no end and his knowledge is vast and endless. He bestows some of this knowledge on humans, which they use in their day to day lives and which they need to document for use by the rest of humankind. The opportunities for Google in gathering this endless knowledge and sharing it are thus also endless (Davis, 2015).
