Kardashian family has virtually occupied all the media, reminding the Americans of their existence every day. Though it should be understood that the people of the United States are different, and therefore they have different attitude towards the Kardashians as an idol of American pop-culture.
Many Americans did not watch a single episode of the reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, but everyone knows every detail of the private life of all members of the family. People remember what Kim Kardashian appeared in on the street yesterday and the way she and Kanye West tried to have a second child. Americans are aware of the fact that her stepfather changed his sex and became a woman and her mother, Kris Jenner, is not too upset by this fact, since she has already found a young gentleman. The USA heard all about the youngest Kardashian sister, who enlarged her lips, provoking a terrible flash mob among teenagers who want to acquire such beauty (Swift, “Ways the Kardashians are Destroying America”).
Kardashians put their personal life on display in a reality show, where dozens of cameras simply capture a wealthy family routine, whose usual problem of “what to wear” and “where to go” elevated to the level of global significance. In 2006, the Internet has got the sex video of Kim Kardashian with her then-boyfriend, singer Ray Jay. Rumor has it that Kim merged it into the internet for her notoriety. It is quite normal for Kardashian sisters to post their pictures on Instagram, engaging in self-admiration. But Kim Kardashian has gone even further by releasing a book with a collection of her selfies (Halperin 46).
And in the end the most important argument, which does not fit in one’s head, is that the members of the Kardashian family have no outstanding talents or achievements, but they are worshiped, constantly written and talked about, and thousands of fans are willing to look and act like the Kardashians.
