I have lived in Kuwait with my parents in my whole life. Living under the heed of my parents never trained me about any life experience, which could make me accountable. This is because they could cater for everything including my school fees and other expenditures. I never realized what it takes to be responsible on finances or any economic status. After high school, I took a semester off apply for universities in Paris. Living in Paris, for the last three months, is a life experience that has totally changed me from a dependent person, and made me develop a broad mind on how to handle not only financial matters, but other issues in general.
As much as my parents still support me, living alone has meant that I have to be responsible for every penny I spend. At first I had issues in managing my funds till my account was almost negative. This was the beginning of my lesson on how to be wise and become independent. Having little to manage, I had to cut some of my expenditures. These included managing my diet and cutting down expenditures on meals. I had to substitute the use cabs as the only means of transport to other public and cheaper means. Sometimes I had to walk so as to save some money for my upkeep. To cut down on my expenditure, I also had to start using metros.
All this was without the assistance of my parents. It was an individual resolution that I found necessary in order to manage my own funds. Adjusting to this new lifestyle was difficult for me. For instance, using public transport was inconvenient, but at the end of the day it cut down on cost. This step has helped me grow independently and in making my own decisions without any assistance.
