Argentina has a fascinating immigration history that the period of 1870 – 1914 became the ‘belle époque’ of the country. The country became progressive characterized by fast economic growth, huge arrival of the foreign capital and enormous immigration to Argentina coming from Europe . For centuries, the country is clear immigration country, enticing the largest number of emigrants in the region. Most of its travelers come from neighboring countries such as Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Peru and Uruguay and a portion of it came from Italy and Spain. Generally, people immigrating to Argentina have mostly medium or higher educational level. Unlike in other rich countries, many of the immigrants in Argentina are mostly Jewish immigrants who escape from persecution .
Argentina is the known house of the famous dance ‘Tango’. It is the central feature of cultural landscape of the country amidst the upward and downward economic progression of bust and boom. Developed in France, Tango developed out of the passionate and fervent emotions of the hardworking Italian and Spanish immigrants. At the same time, this cycle led to the period of unrest and civil contention. Because of this, the dance itself became associated with the poor and disadvantaged. The powerfully hierarchical structure of the society led to the difficulty of accepting Tango by the country’s elite. More than being a musical genre, Tango links to cultural traits related to dedication and loyalty, courage and pride.
Deeply learning tango means having a deep understanding of the culture of the Argentinians. The dance symbolizes power struggle and a strong desire to defeat the unjust political structures. Its close linkage to power hierarchy means a robust yearning for balance and security that is an indescribable quality of the experience of the Argentinians. More than power, tango symbolizes submission, coupled with greatest respect for the subtle balance that clasps the society together. The strong desire for stability is steady the society’s characteristic with high uncertainty of avoidance. To date, the moderation between risk aversion and risk taking is constant with the national profile of the Argentinian. Argentinian places a strong value on security and upholds stability even during challenging situation. Surprises are not welcome and, as much as possible, Argentinians should learn about the details so that they won’t feel defeated .
In recent news about Argentina, Argentinian police recently searched a radio station in relation to an investigation involving a businessman who was on jail because of money laundering and connection to drug trafficking. The police officers received a grant allowing them the right to get in to La Brujula, a news website and radio station, to confiscate thumb drives, hard drives and computers with records of phone calls and conversation of the businessman. Apparently, the radio station issued and aired a portion of the conversation of the businessman that accused the government and police officials in the criminal activity. On the other hand, this police movement forcing the disclosure of private sources already violates the fundamental code of freedom of the press that is, protected by the Argentinian law. Also, the police authorities deposited the copies of the recordings in other places, and the journalists cried out that this act infringed the constitutional protection of the journalists .
