Introduction
Golden Rice refers to the rice that was developed by scientists for the purposes of supplementing the need for vitamin A. The reasons behind the efforts that were marshaled to push for its discovery were along realms of the urgency and the need to salvage the effects of lack of Vitamin A in most foods (Schulze). As a result of the lack of the vitamin, many children in the world are suffering. Ultimately, several deaths had been reported. At the same time, medical reports dictate that, pregnant women are also greatly affected by the lack of Vitamin A. For these purposes, rice was genetically engineered so as to facilitate the need for vitamin A. Some chemicals were incorporated in the existing brand of rice. It is true to denote that, the efforts by the scientists to come up with the food crop received a commendable positive response that culminated to its eventual success (Denain). However the case, the basis of this research is upon the fact that, the continued use of this food substance has resulted to instances that can squarely be described as adverse.
In this context, the effects of Golden rice to the health of people have been overwhelming. Golden rice has led to instances of food poisoning due to the fact it is chemically engineered. The effects of the chemicals continue to engulf human population in a significant way. The reason behind this study is to address the effects that Golden rice brings to the lives of people. Methods and ways of abetting the situation are what interest me in this study. It is a matter of urgency, if measures are not taken; it is plausible to come to the conclusion that, the entire humanity will fall victim to the hazardous effects of Golden rice. On the same note, it is crucial to note that, the spread in use Golden Rice is extensively alarming. May, it will engulf the entire continent due to its availability. On the same slate, it should be emphasized that, proper mechanisms have to be devised so as to usurp the effects of Golden Rice on public health.
Thesis Statement
The sole reason behind this study is to come up with methods and ways that can positively change the trend being paused by Golden Rice. In this case, it is significant to note that, Golden Rice has caused much harm to the end users. In essence, the health of people has been depreciated from the fact that chemicals that are in the used in the applicability of the food cause food poisoning and general ill-health to people. The purpose of this study is to present the genesis of this problem, its current position and possible action that can be incorporated to amicably abate the situation. At the same time, the paper purposes to bring to light the most significant instances that should be brought to the light of people.
Background Information
The Swizz Institute of technology center staged the development of carotene as a substance that was targeted to boost the position on the ordinary rice in impacting in the lives of people. In this context, it is significant to denote that, the institution facilitated moves and strategies that culminated to the success of the project. The genetically manufactured rice was authentic to be used to any person apart from young babies who had not matured in having an immune that is not susceptible to environmental twists and malicious effects of diseases causing germs.
Research has been done, and it highlights that, the advent of Golden Rice brought to an end in the needs of Vitamin A. Craul in his study, he says that, pregnant mothers and children no longer need to worry about the previous circumstances that were under the effects of lack of adequate vitamins essential for the growth of the fetus when it comes to pregnant mothers. On the other hand, it aids in the ultimate growth of children. About the position of most farmers and people well vast in the agricultural knowledge, it holds that, Golden rice is amenable and cheap to cultivate. At the same time, it’s rather lower price when compared to normal rice positions its marketability at a higher scale (David). However, the above mentioned research findings on the good side of this genetically manufactured food cannot be thrown to the winds that. The research problem that is in due regards of this thesis has to be fully regarded. Austin Paul, a nutritionist, in his books on the effects of genetically manufactured foods, he goes on to say that, foods such as Golden Rice are affected the health of people when used on a prolonged basis. In the opinion of his ideas and statements, it is true to say that, aging has been activated by the fact that, people use such foods that subject a great danger to the survival of human beings.
In as far as the history of the effects of Golden Rice is concerned, it is crucial to note that, the first instances to be noted as a possible side effect of the applicability was the sudden ill health that characterized people or children who were subjected to such foods so as to boost their immune. It signaled the attention of critically motivated researchers who started on the analysis that targeted to unravel the impacts of Golden Rice on health. However, contestations have arisen on whether the effects are justified or are on mere fallacious grounds (Xu). In this case, it is claimed that proper use of the food with due regard to the guidelines that follow their usage does not subject them to the negative impacts of the food. In this regard, some people are pro its use, while the majority of health analysts are of the view that, its effects are too stretching and alarming to throw to the winds. It is crucial to lay a basis that elements the two sides held by the two groups of people. When it comes to the group that advocates for the continue in use of Golden rice, it is stated that, the genetically manufactured food was brought to the scope of human hood so as to develop a basis that could target fully usurp the hazardous events that were under the exploitation of the human race when it came to matters that centered on their health. It is contented that, Golden rice can grow in a wide range of environmental conditions. In this regard, its probative value cannot be underestimated. It should be held solider high with adequate in regards and appreciation. A chemical that is used as an activator in the rice is believed not to persist in its existence in as far as its final content in the food is concerned. It is understood that, at no point can be claimed that the rice was directly be associated with the chemical. Scientists dictate that, the chemical has a lifespan that dictates its resultant content in the final product that lands into the hands of people so as to be used as food.
On the other hand, it is significant to note that, the other contending divide on the applicability and the relevance of Golden Rice as genetically manufactured products are relevant to my study topic (Mew). My study topic focuses on the adverse effects on people who use the Golden Rice. In essence, a critical view of this particularly delineated parameter will be substantial in coming up with possible solutions that can be placed on board so as to solve and calm up the situation. Golden Rice can be attributed to food poisoning. At the same time, the food poisoning effect is succeeded by diseases such as cancer. In the long run, the ultimatum worry in this regard is that Golden rice causes more harm than benefits that can be equated to it. It is to highlight that; solutions to the effects of the already expansively scaled food must be devised.
In the light of the arguments that have center staged in this foregoing, it is reasonable to come to the position that, the effects of the genetically modified food can be abetted it its proportion is reduced marginally. In such a case, it must be known that, reducing the proportion of the chemical to an amount that is logically unwelcoming will culminate to a drop in the sole purpose of the producing Golden Rice. The reduced amount of chemicals in it can lead to a milestone change in the way it reacts to the human body once taken in the form of food. On the other hand, the same problem can be solved if a counter chemical is produced by the company that owned the patent right to this invention. The chemical should be administered to patients of general individuals in the need for vitamin A (Hold). Once the role of the enzyme oriented chemical has ceased in its relevance, the countering chemical should be given to people before or after so as to lay a basis that neutralizes the likely affects that follow its application. From my research findings, I found out that, some people use the genetically engineered substance without knowledge in likely events that are inclined on it. They should be enlightened on the possible effects that the food brings. In such a way, the solution will have been found on a way that the public can understand the problem following Golden Rice better.
Conclusion
Issues surrounding genetically manufactured foods are real issues. As seen from the above discussion, the side effects of the use of Golden Rice as food have proven to be so adverse. In this case, therefore, solutions need to be incorporated in the event we want to abet the effects that surround food poisoning instances that come to light from the moment a person takes meal that has some elements of the chemicals that comprise the Golden Rice.
