Life is full of challenges! One of the challenges which happened in my life was the period I entered the university. Not only was I flabbergasted by the abundance of information, but I also faced lack of friends. I have always been an extravert – that is why those very days were a real torture for me.
However, I have been taught since my childhood that it is extremely important to be a team-player, irrespective of the roles and responsibilities. There is a proverb ‘A problem shared is a problem halved; indeed, when a person is working in a team, he is destined to reach success much faster, rather than working on his/ her own. My basketball accomplishments at school enabled me to become a member of a basketball team (if needed, please change it to some other sport). Despite the fact that I was a newcomer, I was noticed. That very opportunity helped me to have my feet firm on the ground, as through my team I managed to learn more about the school, get acquainted with others, and become a member of a completely new society.
Needless to say that goal setting is one of the most important processes in career, as well as in daily life. If one sets himself clear targets, he manages not only to reach them, but to learn much new and reach them with higher efficiency. When it comes to me, in each and every situation I try to identify what exactly I would like to reach and what kind of benefits I would like to finally get. My first year at University not only enabled me to understand the way I want to build my life, but also to manage my time efficiency much better. As after the first year I found a job and made another step in independence.
I am convinced that School and University are the best periods for making real friends, who will be ready to lend a helping hand I any situation. It is always a challenge to appear in a completely different atmosphere with new people; nevertheless, I am convinced that due to my flexibility, honesty and sense of humour I have managed to develop my social life at the University.
Another challenge was, undoubtedly, the pace of life. The area I chose for studying is both very interesting, challenging and time consuming. While I was building my social life, I realized that much attention should be paid to studying as well. I was literally burning the midnight oil to study my classes and be always up to scratch! I did understand that only my strong efforts and deep knowledge would help me to pave my way in the world, as nobody will do it for me. A student is like a ‘sponge’- it has to absorb as much information as possible, to be able to use it properly in the future. And I did – I absorbed all the information we were given at the classes. Everything I did, I did with interest and devotion, and all the goals I set to me were successfully reached.
