"Abraham Lincoln- The Great Emancipator" Essay Sample

Yes, I believe that Abraham Lincoln truly deserves to be called as the great emancipator. He is the one who is responsible for eradicating one of the worst vices of the American Society, the Slavery tradition. Lincoln facilitated the emancipation of slaves by exercising almost all of the political and constitutional powers vested in him as the President of America. Although there are some disputes regarding his actions in this regard but I still profess his position as the true emancipator in the history of American politics.
His position as a true leader was questioned because he used the ‘War powers act’ of the American president to wage action against those states who were not willing to comply with the anti-slavery laws. These powers were exerted on the southern states that were resisting his nation-wide effort to end slavery. The states of the south were known to have a maximum majority of slaves and skipping them in his quest (to ward off slavery from the American society) would have been of no use on a national level. However, at the end of the war, he was determined to end slavery by adding a constitutional change and he did this by introducing the 13th amendment in the American constitution that was a final stroke of abolishing slavery from the American civil society.
Hence, it can be concluded that Lincoln was adamant on ending slavery by any means and he adopted an array of legal, political, and constitutional acts to end the slavery by exercising all of the special powers vested in him as the president of the United States. His role in wiping out slavery can not be subdued by his any other political action and he is truly the great emancipator.
