The story of the three little pigs has been used to show or indicate issues that can be related to the human world. The characters indicate different personalities of individuals. The authors indicate that the wolf is fueled by greed to conduct his actions of killing the pigs. All the writers indicate that form of oppression exists.
Gomez (1999) indicates “The classic story of a worker’s revolt against the tyranny of a bullying capitalist wolf” Gomez tries to portray the picture that the weak are oppressed by those in power. Further, the author shows how people react to situations of oppression. He indicates that wisdom in the end overcomes physical power (Gomez, 1999).
Amdur (1998) tries to bring the concept of why certain bad leaders have acted the way they have in the past. He gives examples of Hitler and Saddam Hussein. Although not indicated in the story, he tries to show that the upbringing of these individuals played a significant role in the men they became. Ardum (1998) asserts “At worst he learned from his parents the way of the wolf: bounty hunters, snarling, drooling and selfish, like landed cows, caring not a lick for what he eats: today a sheep, tomorrow a pig.” Fazio and Ek (2000) interpret the story of three pigs from a religious perspective. They indicate, “the wolf is Evil Incarnate, uncivilized, a greedy, lying glutton who consumes the naïve, kindhearted pig bothers without mercy.” In the end, the evil is defeated by righteousness.
The different interpretations by the authors are quite significant in different settings. When conveying religious messages, Fazio and Ek (2000), approach is quite effective. From a psychological perspective, Ardum (1998) tries to relate the behavior of the tyrant leaders that have existed in this world. The mini research conducted tries to show that wolves have the physical strength but when it comes to using brains the pigs have the upper hand. However, this area of research requires more tests to validate this claim. Questions that come to mind are how to measure cunningness and the effectiveness of such methods.
