As an accounting systems manager, she prepares financial statements and compiles balance sheets, works with auditors in managing the auditing. She also monitors the company’s finance reports to ensure that they are accurate. Adrianna is also in charge of the company systems, ensuring their efficiency. The work environment is full of stressful, tense moments, strict deadlines and sometimes very long working hours. The work requires attention to detail and excellent reporting skills beside the technical know-how. Ms. Ion holds a business degree Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University She has also attained her MBA and is a registered member of the accounting professional bodies. The challenges that come with the job are the peak times for auditing which have so many deliverables and limited time. She advises that students in this field should aim at going for further studies and taking examinations to be registered as members of accounting professional bodies. It is also impotent to start from low paying entry level jobs before one can gain the experience to venture out or grow their career.
Job Description
The role of an Accounting Systems Auditor entails meeting auditees to cultivate a good set-up for auditing ant to help them understand business process. They collect information and documents from staff and clients and research on how to implement the best systems for the company. They also research and document the efficiency of risk management systems in business. Facilitating staff and managers to learn the working of the systems. They conduct a risk assessment and report the results, which they in turn use to come up with policies to manage any gas found. Advising management on who to manage emerging opportunities. Highlighting any improvements that need to be made and providing support to staff on how to implement the recommendations from an audit. Following an audit, the accounting system analyst formulates reports and hands them to those in charge. The monitor compliance with rules and regulations and address any emerging issues. The analyst also ensures that he communicates with all stakeholders and maintains openness and good communication.
Reflections
Accounting systems analyst remains my dream career. The process was very insightful since I got to learn more about the job, what it entails, the possible pay and what is required to be successful in the job. The starting salary and the job prospects and opportunity for growth are also encouraging. In my search for companies that recruit, I was pleasantly surprised that almost every other company requires an auditor; which makes the job prospects promising. The informational interview was also very insightful, and I got to learn that one can rise through ranks to become accounting /system manager. It was also helpful to know which other courses I could take to enrich my experience and work.
I feel that I am well equipped for this job since, besides my studies in accounting, I have had some work experience from my job at a public accounting firm as a staff accountant. This experience is relevant to my career and will give me a head start as I take on more responsibility. I was surprised by the versatility of the career, with diverse responsibilities that makes one to interact with both senior level management and regular staff. This project has been an eye-opener and has encouraged me to stick to it.
