‘Reading for Pleasure’ Conference:
Many of the exclusive reading organizations also arrange for conferences and annual meetings etc. A very renowned conference is called Reading for Pleasure which is organized by The Guardian media group. The purpose of this conference is to gather the primary school teachers and librarians so that they could devise new strategies to help the students get more involved in reading and to improve their reading habits.
The Call of Papers for this conference require the educational professional to speak about themes related to strategies to promote wider reading and creativity, how to get the parents involved and how to engage boys in reading and providing tips that can be useful in the classroom etc. The conference will be held on 20th March, 2014.
Proposal for Conference:
As per the requirements of the conference, the study that I would like to propose would mainly focus on how to improve the reading interest of the class by using simple tips regarding the teacher’s attitude. A student is always comfortable in an environment where he experiences encouragement. A teacher’s attitude is a key tool in influencing the student’s overall performance. I would suggest behavioral changes for the teacher such as flexibility and adaption so that he or she can motivate every student’s reading skills in a tailored way. This would help in building a stronger bond between the teacher and the student and would also allow the student to develop trust and become at ease with the teacher.
