Every ad aims a particular group or class of people. The features used in the ads for luxury cars usually target to attract the attention of certain people. For instance, the ads for the Mitsubishi car and the Volkswagen car are different in their design and features but all have been properly tailored to appeal to their audiences (Sean Sheep).
Description of ad 1
This is an ad used by Volkswagen in advertising their cars on Magazines. The ad comprises of a young man flying in the air as he plays a guitar. Right behind him is a Volkswagen car and some people in the background playing instruments. The graphic image appears real although the excitement is extreme. The ad does not have any words in it except for the tiny wordings that appear as captions below the ad and giving further description about the Volkswagen model and why everyone should consider acquiring one. The text and the image have been separated and there is no direct interaction. However, the image is so conspicuous and capturing to the extent that whoever views it would be attracted to move look closer and see what the words in the caption say about the image. The layout of the image is attractive. This ad is tailored to appeal to the fundamental need of human beings for having fun and luxury (Sean Sheep).
Description of ad 2
This ad is tailored to those who are well of in life and those climbing up the social ladder. In addition, it also targets those aiming at the ‘good life’ as properly illustrated in the ad Although, the both the gentleman and the lady in the ad are present, it appears like the man is nearer to the centre of the image than the lady. In the background of the image there is a beautiful and luxurious house with attractive gardens on the outside. There are red spotted lines in the foreground indicating the outline of a car. Below the image is a car with a text beside the car written ‘fill in the blanks’. On the upper part of the image is the text “is something missing from your life?” The gentleman in the ad appears confidently smiling and gazing at the viewer as if saying, “This could be you.” It is thus clear that this ad is tailored to men in specific.
Analysis of ad 2
The beautifully designed tropic estate in the ad and the gorgeous lady are both iconic and signify something precious and valuable. The man appears in a suit and in the foreground implying that all that is the image is his achievement and therefore, he is successful. There is greater interaction between the graphic image and the text in the image. The fonts used are large implying that the words used are as important as the image itself. The caption implies that despite all the achievements the gentleman has had, there is still a missing piece of life that he needs to acquire. The outline of a car is also in the foreground and serves as an answer to the question in the caption on the upper part of the image. The red color used implies that it is urgent and therefore the gentleman needs to acquire the car as soon as possible to make his life complete and comfortable. Just at the bottom of the ad is a car being advertised and it resembles the car outline in the foreground. The text beside the car implies that the gentleman needs to acquire the car and fill it in the blanks, which is the car outline in the red color. In my opinion, the ad is wonderful and highly effective in communicating the intended message. The use of a gentleman, a lady and the beautiful house has a very strong significance and strongly connected to each other and help in bringing out the message in the ad (CS24 Car Ad Projects).
Comparison of ad 1 and ad 2
When compared, the two ads are perfect in their own classes. Both ads have successfully communicated their message and appealed to their target audience. Even though their design and approach are different, they all have a strong sense of appeal to their target population. The two ads share so much in common in terms of the brightness of the design and the visual appeal to the target audience. Nevertheless, the two ads have some notable differences. For instance, the ad 1 only uses the graphic image to communicate the message to the audience whereas the second ad combines both the text and the graphic image in communicating the message. Therefore, after doing the analysis of both ads, it true to say that irrespective of their target audience, both are very appealing and attractive.
