In essence, these facilities have almost similar products in their stocks. Therefore, the consumers in the city just have to choose which store they want to visit. However, they usually look for the best prices among the different retailers around the city. The better the offer, the more the customers get into the store and purchase their products.
When one observes the advertisement for Wal-Mart for this week, one can note that the first page has large fonts that have bright colors. The words ‘make this my store’ can be seen clearly in the middle of the page. It is more of a lure to the shoppers who are not yet seasonal customers at the store. What captures the attention of the reader, however, is the simple language that is used in the ad. The message clearly targets the middle-class shoppers. On the other hand, Aldi’s ad has fewer words as it makes use of graphics. The message ‘snap and save’ that can be seen at the top of the page introduces the graphics of the different discounted items. The message, however, does not favor the middle-class shoppers as the Wal-Mart ad does.
It is worth mentioning that when one goes through the whole advertisement, it is easy to notice that the Wal-Mart’s commercial addresses the middle-class shoppers. In fact, on the third page, it is evident that the store is committed to meet the needs of the people who are employed and do not have time to do other activities at home. The message says that one will not spend more than what is necessary. The Aldi advertisement seems to be targeting the whole population, especially new shoppers, with the offers on selected products.
