Perseverance is a quality, a trait that only a select few have and it is those select few that achieve recognition for their work. Those individuals, who are determined to achieve the impossible, do persevere. People that have persevered are Martin Luther King Jr., Sir Isaac Newton, Mahatma Gandhi and many others. They stood by their beliefs and understandings against harsh obstacles, and achieved their intended results. Perseverance is as much as a part of them as it is a part of me. To this end I feel so good about all the dedication, hard work and perseverance that I have put into changing the course of my life.
During my 8th grade year, I faced an unexpected obstacle that I later overcame, which made me recognize my hidden qualities. The incident happened on a January morning, when I rode my bike to school, like I had done on previous mornings, however this time, an accident occurred. I was riding downhill when all of a sudden an SUV rolled up to the intersection and immediately made a turn. I was a distant away from the SUV. Moments later, I found myself lying on the road side with a swollen left leg. I was taken to the hospital where a surgery was done on my left leg because I had fractured my left femur bone.
I spent a week and a half in the hospital and 2 months recuperating at home. The severe pain in my leg tormented me for many days. I thought I might not be able to walk properly nor would I be able to catch up in my academics. However my thoughts did not stop my determination to heal and get back to school. In due time and with therapy, I overcame the pain, healed my leg and was able to walk properly again. Also, during this time I was homeschooled, thus I did not neglect any of my classes nor did my grades falter from an A. I persevered through an excruciatingly painful period and my focus and determination ensured my success in different academic fields that I still retained the top grades in my academics.
My college completion will be one achievement that I will be most proud of. I will also be taking one step forward in life and this will make me become a more triumphant person. My perseverance and determination to heal and catch up with my academics during my 8th grade year has helped me achieve my long and short term goals. I would also like to tap my potential to the fullest possible level so that I can attain academic and professional excellence essential for this course.
I feel that I do have perseverance, determination and diligence and I am in a position to overcome obstacles that come in life. I feel that the addition of college education will provide me sophistication, knowledge and wisdom to achieve my goal of becoming an Aeronautical Engineer. This will not only fulfill my career ambitions but will also benefit the community and the society at large.
