The reason I was not able to meet academic standards, is because I struggled in a lot of my classes, no matter how hard I tried in learning specific course material. One example of this is math. However, what I could have done, was ask for help through tutoring. The reason I chose not to get a tutor, is because I had too much pride to admit that I was struggling and needed help. However, I had to face the consequences of my actions with being dismissed from college. Another reason I was not able to meet academic standards, is because I was overwhelmed with the number of classes that I took. During the semester, I was taking twenty-one credit hours, and this was very stressful on my health and well-being. In fact, this is the main reason as to why I ended up being dismissed. Instead of keeping this hidden and under the shadows, what I should have done, is to sought tutor or counselor help about it. Now, there are other aspects to discuss in relation to my college career. And the next important aspect to address, is why I think I will be successful again.
The reason I think I will be successful again if I am admitted back, is because I have learned from my mistakes. Previously, I was unwilling to reach out and seek help when it was needed. And because of that, I had to face the consequences of my actions. However, if I were to have another chance, then I would not only demonstrate that I learned from my previous college dropout, but I would also display more efficient academic skills as well. For example; in class, I would pay attention more often than previously, and I would ensure that I am asking for help when needed. Before being dismissed from college, I had a lot of pride. However, this experience has humbled me, teaching me that when I need help on something, it is essential to ask instead of thinking that I can do things on my own. Now lastly, it is also essential to outline the steps, in which I will improve my academic standards.
While I did mention some previous aspects that are in relation to improvement, such as paying attention in class, that is not an outline. To ensure that I know what I am doing, I would need to come up with a specific plan. For my outline, I would start off by creating a list of tasks that I must complete each day. This would be implemented through my own daily planner, and doing so would also aid me in keeping track of the tasks that need to be completed. Moreover, another part of my outline, is that I would set up monthly meets at the writing center. Whether I would feel like I need help on a paper that I am writing or not, it would be best to do this, because it would increase my writing skills overall. Lastly, another essential part of my outline that I would implement, would be to make sure that people are holding me accountable as to how my classes are going. This does not include teachers or tutors (in which it is my responsibility to ask). However, I would develop good friendships, in which people can ask me how my classes are going, so that they will know whether I am being honest or not. College is not only about work, but it is also about building relationships that we create as well.
