Module Review
Question one
In order to overcome business challenge, planning should be made relevant by defining a budgetary planning that shows what to plan and the procedure to put in place, to realize any element that supports the plan of the budget, and to consider the budget in terms of how the business is running other than the way it is accounted for (Agbejule and Lotta 430). It is also necessary to update the budget time after time, and to apply performance-based framework for organization’s success. Besides, cash flow planning should be considered to show how to use the available finances to avoid debts.
Question two
Prototyping is a model of testing a product before releasing it to the market. It has gained its popularity because it involved the final user to identify their preference which will be exactly what will be expected once it is released, and this determines whether consumers will like it, and what to do to improve its preference (Krishnan et al. 9).
It saves cost
Involves the end user
It is possible to identify problems in time
Delivers systems of high quality
Disadvantages
Delay in final product development
Expensive undertaking
Time consuming
Might not always give the preference of all the consumers
Question three
SDLC stands for System Development Life Cycle with the following phases (Alter 17);
Planning: Determines what to be done and the challenges to solve towards the objective set
Analysis: Determines what is expected and how to arrive at those expectations successfully
Design: It sis the actualization of the system by assembling various parts needed by the system
Implementation: This is where installation of the system is conducted, and it is not limited to maintenance and future expansion
Maintenance: The system is maintained time after to time to improve its efficiency and prevent it from becoming obsolete
If a problem arises, it is better to solve it at the beginning of SDLC process to prevent more expenses of repeating the entire process because of something that could have been prevented in the initial phases, and this also saves time and improves results.
Question four
The following are the common types of IS conversion (Arshad et al 1)
Parallel conversion: Possible to use both old and new system until its decided to switch completely
Direct conversion: Cutover can be done directly to the new systems
Phased conversion: Can only convert few parts at a time
Pilot conversion: Utilizes a test technique by utilizing one department
The best conversion strategy is the parallel conversion as it can run new and old system, making it ideal for a new system to become independent.
