The legislation of air quality regulations in New York has greatly benefited it in many ways. This is because it has instilled a spirit of environmental ethics on the people living in this state. It has had social, environmental and economical benefits.
First, it has led to the environment in many ways. it has spelt for a reduction in the release of chemicals and other anthropological pollutants to the environment. Since its inception, the regulation has greatly benefited the environment since it does not tolerate the release of toxic wastes such as carbon dioxide to the environment (Suh, H., et al., 2000). Besides, it has promoted the spirit of environmental conservation. It has made it necessary for the industrialists and individuals to actively participate in cleaning the environment. This has made everyone especially the industrialists who contribute to pollution be very responsible in their actions. For example, before starting any project, there has to be a performance of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Such evaluations are helpful in ascertaining the extent of impact such projects can have on the surrounding environment.
It has positively contributed to the economic development of New York State. The enforcement of stringent air regulatory measures has led to the reduction in the rate of air pollution. Hence, there has been a clean air which has tremendously reduced the cases of respiratory diseases. This has resulted in the reduction of pollution-related sicknesses (Dockery, D. W., et al., 2003). Meaning, the people of New York no longer spend much time seeking for treatments in the hospitals. At the same time, they do not spend their money on treatments. Instead, they can use them to develop the economy of their state.
On the other hand, the adherence to clean air regulations has helped in promoting the social welfare of the people of this state. Since people strictly observe clean air regulations, they are protected from diseases such as respiratory and heart diseases, asthma attacks and low birth weight (Clancy, L., et al., 2002). Moreover, they are now assured of a clean environment which guarantees their long life. They are protected from pollutions which can increase the chances of early mortality ands morbidity. Thus, they have become more socially secure because the new regulation promotes their social welfare.
