Alexander Graham Bell was an innovator who invented the telephone. He is a very prominent figure in communication theory because it is through him that the telephone came into existence. He had an interest in speech, and that is what led him to the discovery of the vibrations of sound waves. He developed a device that could transmit the human voice by the use of an electric current. Bell was essential to the communication theory because he invented several technical methods of communication that enhanced human interaction.
Bell wanted to bring a solution to the telegraph communication that was becoming not as efficient as message traffic increased. Modern communication technology is only building on what this inventor started more than a century ago. His interests in speech, sound, and tones led to the development of a telephone, a tool that is central to modern day communication.
