Question One
Part One
Introduction
The term creative refers to a way of though and action which brings unexpected and original to fruition. It is a very important quality of human being which constitutes Value, Intention, Novelty and Excellence s abbreviated in the ‘VINE’ acronym. Creativity is a very important trait that every human should strive to possess. It can improve the quality of life and make it better than ever.
I would like to select Alexander the Great as the most creative person we studied about during this semester. Alexander featured in the history books as one of the greatest kings in the world. Having born in 323 BC, Alexander emerged to become the king of Macedon which was then a state in ancient Greece. As a determined leader, he made a lot of successes by expanding his territory beyond Greece to Middle East and Asia Minor. The following are some of the reasons why I prefer him as the most creative person on earth:
First, Alexander is intelligent. He was a very smart individual who is endowed with a high intelligence which helped him to carry out his operations. He was quite logical and made rational decisions whenever necessary. As an intelligent fellow, he did not just act. He was very cautious about whatever he does. Before taking any step, he analyzed the situation and thought of the implications. He used his intelligence to amass the support of military men and creatively managed to overthrow King Darius III of the Persian Empire. Obviously, this would be a very challenging affair that no one would dare doing to such a great leader. Surprisingly, even after defeating him, he neither killed nor humiliated Darius’ mother and wife. He protected them and ordered his people to accord them the royal respect they had been enjoyed. This was a creative decision which appealed to the hearts of his supporters to view him as a good man.
Secondly, Alexander was a courageous leader who was ready to take risk and do whatever he could to ensure that he succeeded. This also qualified him as a risk taker. Notably, he succeeded in his long term plan of expanding his territory to cover other important and strategic areas of Asia and Middle East. In order to do this, he had to conduct a 10-year campaign in which he faced a lot of challenges. For instance, he had to engage in a series of wars like Issus and Gugamela which he won. This was a great success to him because it was only through such efforts that he managed to conquer these territories so as to increase the boundaries of his empire as he had planned before. Meaning, he was very creative.
Lastly, Alexander was a flexibility personality. He was a very dynamic gentleman who would fit different situations. He is ready to accept change and conform to any situation as much as he could. He managed to establish a good rapport with all sorts of people including military men and other subjects. This explains why they supported him in whatever he did. In the long run, he managed to establish a very strong empire which became a power to reckon with world over. Such a relationship continued beyond Greece where he had moved to create friendship and build reputable cities like Alexandria Egypt.
Part Two
World Terrorism
I would like to pick on world terrorism as the major problem affecting the world today. Terrorism is an attack of a country by any foreign group. Whenever such incidents occur, many problems like death, injury and loss of property are experienced. Unfortunately, these are greatly felt by the innocent citizens of the affected countries. Some of the notable world terror groups include Al Qaeda, Taliban, Al Shabaab, Boko Haram, just to mention, but a few. President Alexander is the most suitable person to solve this problem because of the following reasons:
Besides, Alexander qualifies as the most creative person able to solve this problem because of his dedication. He was a determined leader who had set goals to achieve during his rein. He was ready to do whatever it took to ensure that he succeeded. For instance, he decided to take steps to engage in a series of wars in the pursuit to create a name for himself and make his people proud. This devotion enabled him to serve his people with well. Hence, he created a team of dedicated soldiers which fought on behalf of his territory. This is why I prefer him as the only person who can solve terrorist problems. He had good management skills and knew how to satisfy and motivate his soldiers. Fighting terrorism needs a proper coordination of the investigators and soldiers at all times. This could perfectly be done by Alexander the Great.
Eventually, I would like to say that Alexander was god at developing diplomatic ties with other nations. He was an all round flexible leader who was not concerned about the welfare of his kingdom. Instead, he travelled far and wide and had a greater understanding of world affairs. A part from constructing over 70 cities in different parts of his empire, he established a lot of friendships with Greece. This was a good initiative because it enabled his people to enjoy the fruits of Hellenistic Civilization which improved their lives a great deal. Such a quality can be useful in fighting terrorism because it needs combined efforts which can only be achieved through cooperation.
In conclusion, I would like o say that Alexander is smart in his thinking he is worth being considered as the most creative personality who can be entrusted with solving terrorism. His intelligence is quite admirable and could put him in a better position of coordinating his team to come up with strategies to eliminate this menace. All the leaders should borrow a leaf from him.
Question Set Two
Part One
In my own opinion, I would like to describe creativity as progression. This means an ability of imagining a familiar thing and transforming it to a better state in which it was not before. A creative person therefore is one who is dynamic and can use traditional ideas to come up with a more refined one. This semester has changed me a great deal because I have become so creative. The lessons learnt during the formal and informal interactions with my tutors and peers built me to emerge as a very strong and creative student than I could ever imagine.
Such life skills helped me to be a more refined student. Hence, I have become more confident, open minded, dynamic, critical, rational and humorous. Being creative has enabled me to look at life from a critical view. My mind has been opened and I can not just follow orders without questioning. Being confident has enabled me to face life boldly. I can therefore go against the norms which I feel are propagating blind belief. This means that I have become a risk taker, an initiative I took because my teachers informed me on the importance of taking risks. In fact, I remember one occasion when I was told that failing to take risk, is in itself a great risk.
Lastly, I would like to say that the semester prepared me to pragmatic and have a sense of humor. I developed problem solving skills as one of my qualities. Hence, I can look at life from a different point of view, analyze situations and come up with the best strategies to manipulate my surrounding. All these are achievable mainly because of the curious intelligence developed so far. I can confidently confront any situation and come up with feasible and well thought solution.
Part Two
Actually, this was one of significant semesters I have ever had since i was admitted to this institution. One of the most important lessons I learnt was about learning. As a result of attending my lectures and keenly listening to my tutors, I realized that I did not have much information about learning when I was informed that it’s not an incident, as I had believed, but a process. I also learnt that learning is an exercise which should be done by focusing on the learners as the centre of interest. This means that a good teacher should not assume the role of a custodian of knowledge, but use his students as the main focus.
Besides, I learnt that learning should be done by actively involving the participation of the students. A good teacher should use strategies like group discussion, questioning, practical and presentations to actively engage learners. If learners are actively involved in the teaching ad learning process, the teacher will be able to accomplish both his short and long term objectives of learning. Similarly, involving them in the learning process enables them to take their work seriously. In the long run, they become creative thinkers who do not necessarily rely on their tutors for assistance, but can developed life changing skills like problem solving.
With this information in mind, I discovered a lot about myself as a learner. First, I learnt that I should no longer consider a teacher to be a know-it all. Instead, I learnt that the contribution of a student during lessons is the most important thing in his education life. In addition to that, I also learnt that learning is a process that should incorporate recreation. As the saying goes, ‘to much work, but no play makes Jack a dull boy.’ A good learner must create time for playing to enjoy himself. If he does this, he becomes humorous, a condition which relaxes his brain. Thus, he refreshes himself and get more energy to carry on with active learning.
Part Three
In order for me to succeed as a student, I need to be focused. In other words, I should set realistic and achievable goals which will help me to determine the extent at which I plan to excel. Education is the most important thing in my life because my success in this institution will determine the kind of a person I will be in future. Therefore, in my plan, I would like to ensure that I become active in my class; respect my tutors and colleagues; join discussion groups; read inspirational books; be a critical listener and reschedule my time.
These will help me to have a frame work of operations to help me in carrying out my learning activities without any inconveniency. For instance, being obedient will enable me to peacefully coexist without being at logger heads with anyone. Otherwise, I can be inconvenienced by unnecessary punishments and suspensions from college because this will consume my learning time. Similarly, being actively involved in group discussions and constant consultations will help me to be more creative especially when I get an opportunity to share ideas with my peers and tutors in both formal and informal friendly manner.
Last, but not least, being focused will be able to evaluate myself and understand my weaknesses. As a result, I will come up with amicable remedial measures on how to improve on them and make the best out of my time in as a student. These goals are very essential because they will determine my destiny in the days to come. After all, I need to be creative because it will determine my education. The only way through which I can gauge my success is through having a target. It will define my destiny since it will be greatly influenced by the efforts I put in my studies.
