Ford Motor Company is a multinational automaker with its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903. The Company deals with automobile and commercial vehicles under Ford brand and luxury cars under Lincoln brand. It is the second largest in U.S and fifth in the world based on 2010 sales. Ford Motor Company believes human resource management to be the pillar on which stands the foundation of the company. Human Resource Strategy is an important purpose for the achievement of organization’s strategic objectives and goals. It looks at the organization structure and policies which are crucial in planning of the organization. The Human Resource Department deals with the management of manpower and time in the organization.
How to ensure the human resource strategy is in line with business strategy
The efficiency in the performance of any organization depends on the strategies established within the entity. The framework under which strategies are formulated should form the basis under which the organizational strategies are based on. The other HR department responsibility is planning in the organization. This ensures that it plans well for all present and future engagements of the company involving the staff. In planning for the company, the HR should ensure that the staff increases value to the organization. The department is also entitled with planning future organizational goals in relation to the staff. This is by clearly stating the goals of the staff that are entitled to carry them out. This gives a clear direction to the staff that will be result oriented rather than just working for completion of work. The department is also responsible for the coordination process in the organization and planning for day to day objectives of the company.
Job and responsibility preferred
As discussed above, there are several responsibilities assigned to a human resource manager. The most preferred responsibility is the recruitment process. The major tenet for the choice of the position is that, the human resource is in full information in regard to the job conditions in the organization. The choice to select the worker thus depends on the job requirements which the human resource manager has full information. This makes him monitor well the progress and performance of the workers and able to provide the necessary training and development skills to the selected workers.
How to improve competitive advantage
The HRM of the Ford Company can improve its competitive advantage through various ways. This starts by ensuring that the human resource performs its responsibilities effectively. The company HR must create a workforce that is most qualified and skilled in meeting the international standards and hence competitive. In order to maintain this workforce, the company must offer competitive remunerations. This will make the company be competitive by producing quality automobile in the world. The company should also ensure that the human capital determines its productivity level thus invest more on it.
Ways in which the company can increase diversity
A company can increase diversity by hiring policies and procedures that increase diversity. A diverse workforce brings many and new ideas to the company. Diversifying the workforce the company will consider race, gender, age, religion, philosophy and nationality depicting it a multinational company. Also, the company can diversify by recruiting staff more in places or regions where they want to increase diversity, and by creating a culture that will attract a diverse workforce. Through the establishment of a conducive working condition, workers productivity increases. This makes the company able to diversify its services to various markets. This helps to increase the services rendered by the company.
