Good day! I am ____________ and I am taking this class this current semester. I came from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and currently live there as well. I am single and have no kids, and I grew up in a family of five—I have two brothers and two sisters all in all. Currently I work as a correctional officer at Louisiana Correctional Institute for women. In my spare time, I find watching movies to be an enjoyable pastime. Regarding my educational background, I graduated from the Southern University in New Orleans with a major bachelor in sociology. Presently I am pursuing a master’s education in leadership.
I like to describe myself as a typical person, nothing out of the ordinary. This means I can relate to pretty much anyone, and I can get along with them quite well. Like any other normal person, I like enjoying time with friends and indulging with friends. Nevertheless, I love the higher education field and this is why I chose to enroll at the Upper Iowa University. I believe that this institution can help me further my career goals, which is to advance in my chosen career so that I could improve on myself as a person and to learn more about my community. Being a person who partakes in a social work, I can say that I have some experience in strategic planning—I engage with meetings with my coworkers in order to better our workplace. However, I still believe I still have a lot of room for improvement. In fact, this is one of my expectations in the course—to learn more about decision-making so that I could apply it in my real life endeavors.
