The current social, economic and political status of United States of America has been shaped by numerous historical events. The historical leaders, scientist and philosophers among others have shaped the current status of the nation in terms of economic, social and political status of the country. For example, in the recent past, technological advancement has been taking place in America and across the globe. For example, the developments of social networks like Twitter, and Facebook that have revolutionalized socialization. Over the years more and more people have become reliant on technology. This is due to the fact that people are using devises and appliances that are technologically driven and have some degree of reliance on the internet. As a result, the number of people airing their concerns with respect to privacy has increased (Walter & Foot, 2012).
In the year 20103, the government has come out strongly to stating that it shall ensure that companies accord their clientele with the degree of privacy that is required by law. The government has also stated that it shall not look into personal information without going through proper channels (Brown, 2013). The major purpose of this is to maintain the integrity of internet usage as well as to encourage people to continue using the internet.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are popularly known as Obama Care. This Act was passed into law in the year 2010, and it is a good system of healthcare provision. Its benefits are being realised by the Americans from the time it was enacted until today. This is because it facilitates people earning relatively low incomes either individually or as a family to afford financing their healthcare. This program ensures that insurance companies do not stop covering an individual because their health status has deteriorated thus leading to an escalated cost of Medicare. This system serves to ensure that most people with pre-existing conditions are able to obtain medical insurance covers (Morgan & Morgan, 2012). Obama care has brought about reforms in the health sector that has led to a decline in wasteful spending. As a result of this Medicare has become relatively affordable. The program has also placed special emphasis on the healthcare programs for the seniors thus making them enjoy quality health services in an affordable manner.
Human activity is a substantial cause of global climate change. This results from increased indulgence of human into activities that are not environmentally friendly. Over the years, with the rapid population increase, there has been a lot of deforestation being carried out in order to develop human settlement. There has also been an increase in the number of factories and industries being set up. As a result, there is a continued increase in the air and water pollution, in America and many countries across the globe (Grant, 2012). The United States government has launched various programmes such as U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In the course of the year 2013, the agency has been raising awareness on matters concerning the environment. The rise in the number of people using motor vehicles run on petroleum is also contributing significantly to environmental degradation. However, it is imperative to note that the government is making efforts that are geared towards ensuring an ecological friendly society. For instance, the government has helped funding of various initiatives that are geared towards enhancing people’s awareness on matters concerning the environment.
In most of the cases, American military interventions are justified. This is based on the fact that, America is a super power, as well as the fact that United Nations, does not have a military. As a result of this, the United Nations relies heavily on member states, whenever it needs military assistance. Most of the wars that America is engaged are geared towards solving terrorism or activities that pose a danger to the livelihood of mankind (Keithly, 2012). An example of such an activity includes the manufacturing of chemical weapons. During the year 2013, United States was attacked by unknown terrorists during the Boston marathon. This attack led to the death of several people, and many others were injured.
In addition, there have speculations that chemical weapons are being manufactured in Iran, Syria, and North Korea. The North Korean situation is the latest and their leader Kim Jong-Un is threatening to fire missiles to the main land America. This is a situation whereby the national security of the American people is under threat, and in the event that Kim Jong-Un launches a missile towards America, the U.S. army is likely to retaliate.
The American Foreign Policy since 2001 has been characterised with various challenges as well as benefits. One of the major benefits is the significant neutralisation of the number of terrorist threats that are posed across the world. This is mainly due to the fact that it has been participating actively in the war against terror in Iraq. The American government achieved significant success, which included the assassination of the leader of Al Qaeda known as Osama Bin Laden in the year 2012. In addition, they have also been able to capture and assassinate various key leaders of these terrorist outfits. They were also successful at capturing Saddam Hussein (Brown, 2013). One of the major disadvantages of this foreign policy is the extent of loss of lives. Another disadvantage is that the American government has created opposition in the globe, which may affect its foreign relations. The foreign policy has brought about people who hate America with passion and they would do anything possible in order to destabilize their national peace.
After the occurrence of the global financial crisis, most of the investors in America have become very cautious. Many of them have commenced reading the prospectus whenever they want to procure shares during an initial public offering. In the year 2013, the number of people seeking financial advice before embarking in any form of investing has significantly increased. All these efforts are geared towards reducing the chances that they are likely to lose money in their quest of making more through investing. Most of people have also embarked on various programs that will enable them to obtain the financial education that they desire. After the global financial crisis, through various economic recovery programs, the United States economy has been slowly recovering. This is because the economy is also experiencing some of the negative effects of the Greece Crisis.
