As student in America for the last four month, the experience has been marvelous as compared to the closed culture in Saudi Arabia. The, a brief history of my country of origin Saudi Arabia, this is Muslim dominated country with closed culture holding a lot of doctrines. . This is a country that has closed culture with stick rules and a lot of challenges in various structures in its governance. It could not be compared to America in terms of democracy, Governance, economy and social backgrounds. Again the religion is quite different since in Saudi Arabia the religion there is Muslim while in America majority are Christians.
Politically, America has significant system with only two parties. These are the democrats and the republicans. It residents choose the best suit for their leadership from the devolution kind of government. Therefore, the country conducts fair and just elections since there are only two parties. The winner as the president must achieve 50 percent plus one vote. This is the fairest election which is aired live through the television networks around the country.
The open culture in America presents a lot of opportunities quite from the education to social life. For instance the language here I found it to be so different not like in the other countries speaking English.
I recall, for example, taking a strolling New York City on my free time and socializing with New Yorkers’. Their language was amazing not like the used English known to me. For instance, on some word here seemed to be changing action at my home country to deal in America. I realize, in America they stay “on line” instead of staying “in line” in Saudi Arabia. This was due to the fact that “online” took an entirely brand new meaning here. The linguistic here changed reality to a more confusing style as majority of the people would stay rooted to their computers for service around the city. Online was a way of contacting most of the services while at the comfort at their own home and reality. Again I recall growing up hearing the 2nd person plural as half roughly “you guy’s and instead they would say half of it like “y’all,” That remained very interesting as compared to the rest of the countries speaking the same language. Later, I came to realize it was the language that was going through different culture. Technology had already change a lot and instead of being served by one person at the counter, one could serve himself through a small device a laptop, a form of computer.
Again, I experience some changes security system in America. America is secured through sophisticated technology that does not need a lot of manpower to protect the residents. While in Saudi Arabia militia and government forces protect the country, America has a cover up of technological devices which control the entire area. These include CCTV system (Closed Circuit Television System) which covers the traffic systems, airports, and terminal areas, residential and open places. Other security system includes scanners on the entry to shopping centers like the malls and other busy areas. These scanners are metal detectors just in case there are bombs within the area. Other security services are 24 hours surveillance by police in patrol.
Another important freedom was the freedom of expression, a country where there is segregation of racism. In America there are a lot races living together from Arabs, Africans to Indians and Britons. They all live together like brothers and sisters. For instance in my class, we are mixed up in various races. This means there is no racism and people share the common materials and countries wealth. Another important experience the way the government offer some services to the people. The governance covered the health care program for all the citizens in the country. People would access hospital, social funds and education in a way that could be affordable. This to me happened to be different since in Saudi Arabia, insecurity is so high and people live in fear. This could be evident from the recent report on abduction of African held as captives in Arab country. Again the system of living in Saudi Arabia is limited to the Arabs and people from the Middle East counties. Again the access to education was not as sufficient as In America. Indeed this system can be said to be closed system culture.
On learning the history of the country, I got amazed on the events that took place in the history of America. First, the country was torn between two races the white Americans and the Black American. It was believed that the Blacks who were also known as Negros came from the continent of Africa as slaves. It is believed that America had the highest count of racism as compared to any other country around the world. This went far to revolutions that were meant to fight for the rights of the American, not as white country but a country with different races. This happened after the Second World War as British tried to conquer United States of America in a fight that saw death of many American soldiers. Later America qualified to retain the land. Revolution on the end of racism started with the late president of United State Abraham Lincoln. Later, Dr. Martin Luther King would deliver a speech in 1963 to unite the races in America. He delivered a speech which met a lot of criticism around the world. It aimed at exposing the plea of Negros from the oppression by white. It came at the time when the country took the Black American as slaves. They used to work at the home s of the White and got low pay. Again they were not allowed to access better housing and employment.
Later, the country got unified and the level of racism reduced significant after the speech by Luther. In his speech he talked of change, from oppression, change from racism and racial segregation and other sectors in the life of American. Today, America enjoys the freedom that was reflected in that speech. Different states enjoy the freedom in all sectors including employment and other areas. History saw the revolution of technology and fighting for freedom which saw the independence of America. The country fought for their land from the Britons, Japanese to win the Second World War thus being pronounced the world power. The type of buildings around the country is also significant in the country. It has big sky scrapers as compared to the mode of buildings in Saudi Arabia. Other buildings like the mall contain a lot of business within them, a vast change that is amazing and worrying. The cities are lit with lights from all areas with business that run all night. Now, one would be amazed by the number of vehicles in the streets of this country and network of roads. The social lives in the open areas where people would enjoy leisure time, the beaches on the coast of America and different occasions held in the country.
America fought for the war against terrorism. This happened after the country deployed troops in Afghanistan. They were fighting for the freedom from the then oppressing Al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorism organization. These terrorist were connected to Muslims culture which are also Arabs. The fight stabilized middle east and terrorism reduced significantly. This was due to the death of their leader Osama Bin Laden in an operation which was undertaken by the United States army in 2008. The operation got at hand after the attack of the pentagon and world trade center, an attack that was related to an act of terrorism. Team of intelligence pointed out that the operation was under the command of Osama Bin laden a situation that led to hunt to jail him.
America has an open culture that allows participation of every one including an immigrant like me. This system has improved the relation of the country with their neighbors. They are also able to host vast majority of people who are terrorist business people and all a lot of income to the country. Unlike most of the countries, residents of this country seek healthcare services for free paid by the government.
