Personal values
A. 1) As for the balance between work and home, I consider it one of the most important values in the modern world. Like most people in our country, I combine work and home and these two worlds influence me very much. They both have their unique features and circumstances, specific only for them, and it becomes really hard not to mix these parts in real life. It is actually changing yourself, so to become one person at work, with colleagues, and another – at home, with your family. 2) I have really experienced it when I got absorbed with work and had really little time for my family and friends – then I tried to balance these aspects of my life and find more time for the dearest people and, finally, for myself. 3) If other people don’t keep this balance, they may either fail at work but have a happy family (also, doubtfully) or build a successful career, but stay absolutely alone. In both cases, I would feel very sorry for such people. But I wouldn’t intervene into their life and try to “save” them – it was their choice.
1) As for efficiency, I consider it to be a top value, since it helps to save time and get maximum result. No matter which professional skills a person has, efficiency enhances his/her work and serves the main indicator of his/her professionalism. 2) I have also experienced the necessity of this value when I had a very complex task and very little time – then I felt how effective my work-hour is and how much I can do within the shortest period of time. 3) If specialists neglect this value, not only they, but the whole company will suffer from it, since one broken element can damage or destroy the whole chain. I believe, they should attend some time management courses or extension courses, depending on what they lack more. I would like to help such people, since it is not an easy task to operate your forces and time.
1) The third value important for me is respect. I think, it is not the least, but one of the most significant aspect in the personal and professional development of a person. We are social creatures and our own success and well-being depends on others, no matter if we want it or not. Respect is one of the driving forces in the world and it helps a person become a success in any undertaking. 2) I myself felt how important respect is when it helped me to get a promotion at work and with this weight I could receive more high-profile assignments and projects. I am sure that respect of the head and the colleagues helped me to work more effectively and fruitfully. 3) I think, if people don’t care about respect at work, they have much less chances to achieve anything in their life. They should not only work effectively, but also let others see it in order to receive a good reputation, maybe not for this job only, but for the whole professional sphere. I wouldn’t like such people at all.
B. I have chosen work-home balance, efficiency, and respect as my top values. Work-home balance is especially essential in cities and towns, where people devote most of their life to work and career. I have witnessed a few cases when families were abandoned for the sake of work and neither of these participants was happy in the end. There were even mothers neglecting their children and preferring staying at work to house work and mother caring. Such cases are detrimental for our society.
Efficiency is actually very close to the previous value, since it saves your time and gives you more time for other tasks or for your personal needs (be it friends, family, hobby, etc.) I believe, my work is very effective and I use 100% of my power and skills to do everything. These two values, if developed and improved, may contribute to one’s respect very much. When I started working more effectively and distributing my time for work and leisure, I felt that my colleagues started trusting me more and the head started paying more attention to my work and results.
