It can be said without exaggeration that the 20th century and outstanding individuals who lived at that point of time altered the course of history. One of the most prominent figures who made an invaluable contribution to the society we live in Martin Luther King, the individual whom I truly admire.
Martin Luther King was a leader of the African-American Civil Rights Movement in the United States, who exerted every effort and devoted his entire life to fight against and eliminate racism, discrimination, and segregation. This individual is admired for his courage to stand up and raise his voice against the existing run of events. Martin Luther King’s speech “I have a dream!” is often referred to as the greatest hymn to freedom and equal rights and opportunities.
This leader managed to take a momentous step in changing the state of things for African Americans and forming different attitude of others towards representatives of the dark race in the United States. I truly admire this individual for his courage to disagree on the existing policies against black people, such as segregation in public places, and for his willingness to go against the current and hold up under misfortunes.
Of course, one cannot say that Martin Luther King changed the world for the better overnight, but he can be with good reason named as the pioneer of civil rights movement and a person who encouraged and motivated others to fight for their rights and opportunities.
Among all the other prominent figures of the 20th century, Martin Luther King should be considered as one of the most influential leaders not only because of his fundamental achievements in the domain of civil rights movement, but also because of his burning desire to make our society a better place to live for the future generations.
