Wilma Baker’s company
The company is located at Santa Fe, Mexico and it is mainly concerned with renting of homes and apartments to visitors who come to the place. The company experiences high seasons during the summer and the fall.
The bargaining power of the customers for this company is most likely to be very high especially during the winter period. The business is mainly reliant on the tourist. The city has a number of tourist sites and they pride themselves of the legendry history and culture. There are many attractive sites to visit, shopping centers to shop at, game and visual art. This could mean that the visitors become very many. During the summer the number of tourist becomes very high therefore reducing their bargaining power (New Found Land).
There happens to be a lot of rivalry among existing firms in the company, many similar businesses put pressure on the company. This is the challenge is that there are also so many people venturing in to similar business as Baker. There are many more luxurious accommodations being offered to tourist and at a relatively cheaper price. This could mean that during winter Baker is most likely not to get any customers or he could put the prices at a very low price (New Found Land).
Jerry Barker’s Company
The company is located in Whistler village, British Columbia where Jerry lives. This company specializes in renting condos to skiers and other visitors to the Whistler/Black comb Resort. The main threat to this company as it stands was finding enough customers to fill the rooms recently constructed during the Olympic Games. The business is mainly a ski trade sort with high seasons during the winter.
The bargaining power customers for Barker’s company are most probably the least compared to the three businesses. This is mainly because the Olympic Games are likely to have so many people attending. Most of the people attending the Olympic Games may not have a lot of time to discuss the prices live alone having enough knowledge on the resorts. The reason for this is because most of the people coming for the Olympic Games come from different countries worldwide. The main challenge that Barker will have is during the summer when the Olympic Games are not happening. He will bear a lot of cost on maintenance of the resort as he waits for the next major Olympic Games which usually is after four years (Hill & Jones, 23).
In terms of rivalry among existing firms, it is imperative that the company has no many competing firms as compared to Baker and Bickel. Very few firms which are of similar size as Barker’s company and which mainly target Olympic games exist. So during the winter Barker is very likely to enjoy a lot of profit from the athletes, sports people and funs who attend the games.
Chris Bickel’s company
The company specializes in renting homes and condos to vacationers of Cape Cod. It is located in Chatham Massachusetts. The high season for this company was the summer and Bickel explains that she also had high seasons during the fall.
The customers have a relatively high bargaining power because there is a lot of information on the internet about best renting places in Chatham especially during the summer. There are also other alternative and therefore the customers are likely to demand more luxurious rentals and at a cheaper price because many alternatives exist.
Many real estate firms have similarly ventured in to this business of renting and they make their advertisement very aggressively thereby leading to the presence of rivalry. In order to match up Bickel has to work hard to be on the top by devising various strategies for improving the business.
