Re: Appeal to Reconsider Academic Dismissal
Dear Sirs/Mesdames:
I am hereby appealing to the members of the Academic Review Committee to reconsider the academic dismissal imposed on me. I admit that the poor academic performance was due to my inability to holistically focus on my studies. I hope that I would be accorded another chance.
The past semester had been tedious in terms of meeting both job responsibilities and academic requirements. I worked full time to support all our daily needs, including financial obligations for pursuing higher education. The demands in my current employment were rigorously challenging due to the influx of patients requiring immediate and urgent health care. As such, inasmuch as I would have wanted to apply for lesser hours and lesser days for work, there was no opportunity to accommodate the planned decrease in working hours and obligations.
I initially thought that I could cope with the academic demands by adjusting my work schedule. Only during the course of delving into the final course modules did I realize that I was remiss in most of the academic requirements. I missed reading the required theoretical frameworks and complying with academic essays, projects, group works, and even in attendance. I realized that it was utterly difficult to force meeting work, academic, and family responsibilities given the limited amount of time. Even with exemplary time management skills, unforeseen increases in demands at work as well as in the academe jeopardized an important facet: my academic performance.
I hereby formally appeal to the members of the Academic Review Committee to please give me another chance. I would endeavor continuing the academic program with renewed hope, vitality, and acknowledgement of refurbished commitment and dedication to focus on my studies. Since the past experience had left painful lessons of generating poor academic performance, I hereby affirm to change my strategy.
I am aware that I could only be accorded with one more chance to make things right. I hope that the chance would be given in view of my fervent desire to make my life, and the lives of those who depend on me, better. I admit I made a drastic mistake and I am sorry. I have learned the lesson and I pledge to avoid the same costly mistakes in the future. Likewise, I am keen on graduating from the program, not only as a means for personal and professional growth, but to enable dealing and interacting with others a more productive and rewarding experience. Thus, I implore your expert judgment in according me a second chance to complete this academic program. The fulfillment of my dreams rests on your decision.
Very truly yours,
