Education plays a crucial role in the betterment of one’s life. In fact, it leads to the intellectual growth of an individual and it makes a tremendous contribution to the quality of life one is likely to embrace. With this in mind, it is worth appreciating the fact that the lack of education can jeopardize the quality of one’s life. As such, it is imperative that the government implements proper measures in the administration of education since lack thereof compromises the value of learning offered to students. I believe that education should not be blended in political activities. Precisely, the classroom environment needs to be politically neutral for the efficient administration of academic enlightenment. Additionally, I have confidence in the fact that education should inform students of the essential qualities they need to embrace in their lives. This should be achieved through “intellectual exposure and practice“(Center of Public Education n.p). The education sector should train the students to make the most out of their lives by working hard to achieve their goals. For a fact, the role of public schools in educating young citizens is to nurture them intellectually by informing them how to deal with global situations and they should not be biased towards enforcing political issues.
Education should help students realize their potential. Precisely, the academic platform should be centered on the enlightenment of the student with the ultimate goal of being a resourceful individual in the society. According to the Journal of Educational Controversy, education should build on the student’s knowledge to foster their intellectual growth. He mentions, “I believe that our job in education is to inform” (Acosta n.p).With this claim, he ascertains the relevance of the public school system. As such, the academic platform should not be utilized to enforce political ideologies in the students. There should be no boundaries created while educational institutions since this aspect lead to the development of poor training. Instead of cultivating the quality of education offered to students on a political issue, the school system should nurture the development of critical democracy by embracing diversity in the quality of academic enlightenment offered.
Dealing with education from a political perspective has detrimental impacts on the quality of teaching provided. According to Phippen (n.p), “Our intellectual advancement is a threat to some people because they tried to make it illegal.” The author made this claim concerning the law that banned the Mexican American studies. With this in mind, one can determine that the involvement of the political aspect of education has an adverse impact on the learning process. Instead of nurturing the students intellectually, politics leads to the development of uncertainty in the relevance of the current academic system. To eliminate the possibility of fostering resentment to the quality of education offered in the United States, the government needs to monitor the quality of educational material utilized in the curriculum. Alexander (n.p) mentions that “textbooks teach Latino youth that they are mistreated by America, training them to become radical anti-American activists.” This form of literature fosters the development of political bias and should thus be eliminated from the education system.
In conclusion, the current public school system in the United States is commendable as it is focused towards the elimination of political bias within the academic organization. The recent action of banning the Mexican-American Studies is an efficient portrayal of how the public education system seeks to promote the development of democracy by eliminating politics in education. As such, one is justified to claim that education should be focused on the enlightenment of students and preparing them for their future endeavors. I believe the current public schools system promotes the development of intellectual students by eliminating politics from the academic profile.
