The Republic of Turkey officially and fully supports the denial of the Armenian Genocideб it spends huge funds on the PR campaign of denial of genocide of the Armenians. Turkish government has sponsored universities, which provide credence to the Turkish position. To destroy traces of the Armenians in Turkey, Turkish government has systematically destroyed the monuments of Armenian architecture. The denial of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey is a continuation of the policy of Turkey Republic during the reign of Ataturk, who has denied mass killings of Armenians. Turkey's attempts to fraudulently minimize the number of Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire, the distortion of causes and consequences of Armenians` deportation in 1915 resulted in a systematic rewriting of history. Jewish population experienced the same tragedy during the Second World War. Armenians similarly to the Jews were constantly exposed to particular religious discriminations at different part Middle East where they lived. Both these nationalities were of the wealthiest, because of their engagement in trade and finance.
 At the end of its existence, Ottoman Empire was rather weak to persecute the Armenians. After its collapse as an Empire Ataturk came to power who could not continue anti-Armenian policy due to serious consequences for the Republic recently created. Modern Turkish government is opposed to recognition of massacre of the Armenians as genocide mainly because it would contradict views of Ataturk – the father of the Turkish nation – which strongly disagreed that it was genocide. Another reason why Turkey does not recognize the genocide is because there are beliefs that Ankara will need to pay off compensations to descendants of those who suffered terrible massacre. Moreover, Turkey is likely to lose its prestige if it recognizes the genocide. US is also not willing to officially recognize the killing of the Armenians. Main reason is that Turkey is a mighty NATO member, while Armenia is strongly supported by Russia on the world arena.
Many modern Armenians find Turkey rather comfortable country for living taking into account much higher level of life, more job offers and brighter future prosperities than in post-soviet Armenia.
