The course on art therapy, Reiki and spirituality as alternative ways of keeping good health has a lot of impacts on human lifestyles. Spirituality is basically participation in religion such as attending synagogue, churches and mosques. It could also be through undertaking practices such as meditation, yoga and reflection. Spirituality is an important aspect of keeping good health. People believe that their faith in religion can help maintain good health. For instance, Christians would pray for good health and have faith that they will be healthy. Spirituality in form of yoga and meditation also help the human body relax hence; it influences human health positively.
Art therapy is psychotherapy that utilizes art media as the main way of communication. It is done on people who have the skills or experience in art media. The therapist administers therapy through the relevant art. It helps improve human health because it is a psychotherapy process that relaxes the mind. Reiki is a relaxation and stress reduction technique. It is a mental or perceived technique where one has to believe that there is a source of life that makes them healthy.
The expectations for this course were to learn the alternative ways of staying healthy. Human health is very important, and people use different approaches to lead a healthy life. The expectation was to expound on each of the alternative health methods, how they are administered and their effectiveness. The course met the expectations because it focused on the alternative ways of keeping good health. It focused on spirituality, art therapy and Reiki. The way in which these methods were administered was also discussed in detail and their level of effectiveness in maintaining good health.
The course will change my spiritual life in two ways. I feel that religion is very important. Studies show that religious people who have strong faith live healthier lives than those who do not. I also want to engage in spiritual activities like yoga and meditations. This will help me keep a positive attitude, keep my mind fresh and make my body healthy. From this course, I have derived a new meaning of keeping healthy. Initially I believed that good health was only achieved through a balanced diet and taking medication. From the course, I have learnt that health is both mental and physical. The mental aspect determines the number of times one can fall sick. One can keep good health by simply keeping a mentality.
The best lesson from this course was that there are several ways of leading a healthy life. These ways are cheap and can be done by an individual themselves. The course also clearly explained various ways of keeping good health. The aspect that art therapy is used on people who have communication problems should be changed. Art therapy should be used on any one who is willing to undertake the process. Even though the course is comprehensive in explaining the health alternatives, it did not address the merits and demerits of these methods. Therefore, spirituality, Reiki and art therapy are important alternative methods of maintaining good mental and physical health. They are both cures and prevention of potential illnesses.
