Based on the definition of corporate social responsibility (CSR), what is the responsibility of the bank? What should it do?
In a manner corresponding to corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Manhattan Bank has the responsibility for its impact on society. The responsibility mandates the Bank to integrate or combine both social and environmental concerns in the business interactions and operations with its stakeholders. It is necessary to achieve a distribution of economic, social and environmental imperatives. The bank’s responsibility is also to protect its property, employee’s lives as well as the community it serves. According to the movie, it seems that there was no experienced security that could trace the robbers and get the information since the movie shows that robbery was masterminded by Arthur and Nazi “Bank employees”.
According to the Bank Protection Act, all bank employees as well as officers need to be trained annually on proper procedures and guidelines for robberies. As a security analyst, the Bank can implement security training programs in order to meet the necessary requirements of the bank protection act. The Bank can do this by reminding bank tellers and security officers their procedures during the time of robbery this will help to prevent further bank-robbery.
Why is this situation an ethical dilemma? What should Detective Frazier do?
The situation is quite challenging to Detective Frazier because his job description is to carry out a thorough investigation that could bring promising result at the end of the day. However, the situation becomes an ethical because Detective Frazier was not aware that the diamond had been put in his pocket. In this case, Detective Frazier should take the diamond to the police investigation unit for further investigation on how the diamond found it's way into his pocket by the bank robbers. Detective Frazier can do this by conducting a figure or thumbprint testing or investigation to identify the thumb owner.
